Bhutan, the final wall I’m sharing from my show Human: Eat. Sleep. Repeat. in Venice.

Bhutan feels like a place existing just outside of time. There is a quiet confidence in the way life is lived here, shaped by tradition, spirituality and a deep respect for the land.

What stayed with me was the calmness beneath it all. Happiness felt like something you could sense in the people, in the pace of life, and in the care given to everyday moments.

The masked dancers first drew me in, but the quieter moments became just as important. Through these photographs, I wanted to capture that balance: the mystical alongside the everyday, a country moving forward while holding closely to its heritage.

Work, rest, community and care. The rhythms that run through this whole collection, connecting lives across places that can seem worlds apart.

Exhibited at Palazzo Mora, Venice, as part of Personal Structures, European Cultural Centre.

As part of my Human Eat Sleep Repeat series for @ecc_italy , here is an array of moments from my years spent across South Asia on different assignments and explorations.

India and Sri Lanka offer an abundance of opportunities to document life — an overload for the senses, full of colour, character, culture and constant movement. India in particular, with its immense population and deep-rooted traditions, cultures and rituals, plays an important part in a series exploring the diversity and commonality of human life.

Both have become places I hold particularly dear, and it felt important that they were represented within this collection.

Currently exhibited in Venice as part of Personal Structures.

Jimadores, Tequila, Mexico.

Part of my Human: Eat. Sleep. Repeat. series. For @ecc_italy

These portraits were made with the Jimadores of Mexico, the skilled men and women responsible for harvesting the agave that will eventually become tequila and mezcal. Their work is physically relentless, carried out under the heat of the sun with techniques that have been passed down through generations.

Watching them work was a reminder that behind so many of the things we consume without a second thought are people whose lives are built around patience, craftsmanship and tradition. Every harvest is done by hand, every movement precise, every plant the result of years of growth before a single cut is made.

It’s easy to forget where things come from. We live in a world of instant gratification, yet so much of life still depends on people whose labour remains largely unseen.

For me, these portraits are about honouring that. A small window into lives shaped by hard work, resilience and an enduring connection to the land.

Another chapter from Human: Eat. Sleep. Repeat. a project exploring the shared threads that connect humanity across cultures, continents and ways of thinking life.

Human: Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

Part of my exhibition at the European Cultural Centre, Venice Biennale 2026. @ecc_italy

This wall brings together two places that could not appear more different: a sumo stable in Tokyo and the remote island of Socotra, Yemen.

In Tokyo, I was granted rare access inside a sumo stable, witnessing a world built on discipline, ritual, repetition, training, diet, rest, and shared purpose. Every day follows a carefully structured rhythm, dedicated to the pursuit of mastery.

On Socotra, isolated between Yemen and Somalia, life is guided by a different rhythm. Fishermen and Bedouin goat herders live closely with the land and sea, where work, food, rest, and community remain at the centre of daily life. Despite the island’s remoteness and unique landscape, what stood out most was the warmth, generosity, and openness of its people.

What fascinated me was not the contrast between these places, but the similarities. Across cultures, religions, languages, and geographies, we continue to organise our lives around the same fundamental needs and desires. We work, we eat, we rest, we belong, and we search for purpose.

The further I travel, the more I am reminded that humanity has far more in common than we often realise.

Now on display in Venice until November.

Human: Eat. Sleep. Repeat.
Palazzo Mora, Venice
Part of the European Cultural Centre’s Personal Structures exhibition
Open now until November 2026.

Human: Eat. Sleep. Repeat. explores the shared rhythms that shape human life: who people are, how they live day to day, and the ways communities sustain them. Across continents and cultures, individuals move through the same essential cycle of nourishment, rest, labour, care and continuity. While environments, traditions and histories differ, the lived experience of being human remains deeply familiar.

The exhibition brings together photographic works created through years of immersion within communities around the world, from remote regions and island nations to diverse cultural landscapes shaped by place, tradition and environment. Each image focuses on everyday existence, revealing the quiet strength, tenderness and connection found in ordinary moments.

The work does not seek to emphasise difference, but rather reflect on our shared humanity.

Very honoured to share this project in Venice alongside so many inspiring artists from around the world.

Losar Tashi Delek 🇧🇹

Today Bhutan welcomes the Lunar New Year, the turning of the wheel, a moment of renewal across the Himalayas.

This year marks the Year of the Horse, a symbol of strength, freedom, endurance, and forward motion.

Captured while filming in Bhutan, this rider moves through the mountains with quiet power, a reminder that the year ahead is not rushed, but carried with purpose.

May it be a year of resilience, clarity, and steady momentum.

Strive India 2025

With the launch of @thestrivecollective_ , I’m happy to share a few moments captured during our cycle expedition across India late last year.

From Agra to Jaipur, through rivers, forests, and desert landscapes, we experienced countless exhilarating moments, fully immersed in culture, wildlife, and history.

More than a physical challenge, it was a true feast for the senses.

Congratulations @thestrivecollective_ @noahdevereux @bransonsam @freddiehg_

A few still moments from our time shooting for @tourismtonga @studiokhonsu

From vibrant island life to surreal encounters beneath the surface, I was lucky enough to share the ocean with majestic humpback whales, gentle giants that reminded me how powerful and peaceful nature can be. These waters hold a kind of magic that stays with you long after you’ve surfaced. Grateful to share a glimpse of that magic here. 🌊🐋🇹🇴
