✨ Welcome! I’m Rona.

I’ve been homeschooling my kids since 2019, and my youngest has Level 3 autism.

Over the years, we’ve tried a little bit of everything: public school, a charter school for independent study, therapies, and now private homeschooling.

We did ABA for about four months before deciding it wasn’t the right fit for our family. A few years later, we gave it another try for two months, and were told we already had most things under control at home (except toilet training). When they couldn’t help us address elopement in the community, I had to learn how to navigate that on my own.

Both of my children were in speech therapy from the time they were 18 months old. My daughter graduated from speech in third grade. My son never graduated from speech, but challenges surrounding AAC goals within the charter school system became one of the biggest reasons we ultimately chose to leave and support his communication at home instead.

The same was true for OT and PT within the school setting—we’ve incorporated those skills into our daily life at home. Through private insurance, my son eventually graduated from physical therapy altogether.

Some of those years feel like a blur now, but I clearly remember the fear.

The fear of wondering if I could really do this.

I wasn’t a credentialed teacher. I was a former preschool teacher trying to figure out autism, homeschooling, therapies, special education laws, and how to best support my children.

But here we are, seven years later. (And toilet training has been 98% completed!)

Our days aren’t perfect, but we’re thriving. We’re learning. We’re growing. And we genuinely love this life we’ve built together.

If you’re new here and wondering whether you can homeschool your autistic child too, I want you to know that you’re not alone. ❤️

Welcome to our corner of the internet.

On Monday, I said I had an announcement coming Tuesday… and here it is 🤍

I know I just asked about becoming a parent mentor on my stories—but the truth is, this has been on my heart for a while.

To everyone who said yes…
To everyone who shared kind words or left a review (even when I was simply trying to help)…

You gave me the confirmation I needed.

So I’m saying yes.

I’m stepping out on faith and officially offering mentorship for families homeschooling high support needs children.

Because if I can make this journey even a little less overwhelming for another family… that means everything to me.

Being a high support needs mom means I can’t always show up in person—but we live in a time where support, guidance, and connection can still happen virtually.

And that matters.

I’m so grateful for the encouragement, the trust, and the opportunity to serve in this way 🤍

If you’ve been needing support on your homeschool journey, my DMs are open. by @adaptivelearningathome

A Little Update!

So. Apparently…. I’ve been doing the work of what 6-figure TPT stores are doing?! Meaning - moving my store to a whole website. Yeah, people do that when they make 6-figures. I do not make 6-figures. 🤣

Except in my dreams 💁🏽‍♀️

I’ve been a little quieter lately because I’ve been busy working behind the scenes at Adaptive Learning at Home!

Right now, I’m going through my resources, cleaning up files, updating my Terms of Use, adding new coupon pages, and making sure everything reflects my business’s new name. It’s a lot of little things that add up to a BIG project! It probably would have been easier paying Exclusive to TPT.
Here’s a little glimpse into what running a small business looks like for me. ❤️

Most days, you’ll find me sitting at the table with my son, engaging with him while working on my computer. Some days I’m creating worksheets, or editing my clipart credit list, or homeschooling … or walking on my treadmill.

I’m thankful for our tutor, who helps make this balancing act possible, and for my husband, who is a very hands-on dad.

Meanwhile, my daughter is getting her own little introduction to graphic design by watching her mama work. Who knows? Maybe I’ll have a future business partner! ❤️

And of course, our dogs and bird continue to provide their very important furred and feathered emotional support services. Their compensation package includes treats, attention, and absolutely no actual paperwork. 🐶🦜

I’m just one mom running a micro business with big-dawg attitude. A membership - they say. I don’t know yet. Small steps.

All this while homeschooling, raising my family, and trying to create resources that make learning a little more accessible for other families.

It’s not always perfectly organized. Sometimes things take longer than I planned. And family needs come before business deadlines. Always.

But I’m still here, still creating, and still working to make Adaptive Learning at Home better for you.

Thank you for supporting my little business, being patient with me, and allowing me to share something that started at my own kitchen table.

More resources and updates are coming soon!

With love,
Rona ❤️ by @adaptivelearningathome

It’s all a blur.
When you’re already planning lessons, adapting curriculum, juggling therapies, appointments, behaviors, life skills, and everything else that comes with supporting a child with additional needs… figuring out which learning standard a worksheet covers can feel like one more thing on the list.

So I’ve been working on something to make that part a little easier.

My Learning Standards page is officially available and a work in progress!

You can scroll through learning standards by grade and subject, see which Adaptive Learning at Home resources support each standard, and click directly on the resource if it’s something your learner needs.

I’ll continue adding to it as I go — but there’s already plenty to explore.

Finding the right targeted resource shouldn’t require another checkbox to our busy day.

Visit AdaptiveLearningatHome.com and check out the Learning Standards page.

I started looking at my resource for kindergarten social studies content standards, and noticed that our kiddos in California need to be able to interpret timelines of the past, the present, the future and explain how the present is connected to the past — identifying things that are similar and things that are different between the two and all of this is supposed to happen in kindergarten!!! So, I created a mini packet that includes all of these needs, but in an Adaptive way. We have tracing we have cut and paste we have reading passages which could be used as a modified writing activity to explain similarities and differences of the present and the past. I’m very excited for it! #autism #autismhomeschool #specialneedsparenting #smallbusinessowners #mompreneur by @adaptivelearningathome
