I didn’t realize I had been depressed for nearly six months. Not because I wasn’t trying, or because I didn’t have support—but because when you live with MS, sadness can quietly blend into survival. You tell yourself you’re just tired, and you haven’t tried hard enough.Just adjusting. Just pushing through another season of change, another loss, another reminder that your body doesn’t work the way it used to.

From this wheelchair, the world can feel smaller some days. Harder. Heavier. And slowly, without noticing, that weight settled into everything.

Then something shifted, I was brave and asked for help. A change in my antidepressants. And suddenly, I wasn’t seeing a different life—I was seeing the same life through a clearer lens. The challenges didn’t disappear. MS didn’t magically loosen its grip. I’m still in this chair. But the fog lifted. The days feel more possible. The joy feels closer. The hope feels real again.

This perspective doesn’t mean I’m “fixed.” It means I can breathe again. It means I can meet myself with more kindness, more patience, more belief in what’s still ahead.

If you’re living with a chronic illness and wondering why everything feels so heavy—sometimes it’s not weakness. Sometimes it’s chemistry. And sometimes, the shift you need is allowed to be medical, too.

Still here. Still worthy. Still moving forward—just on different wheels. ♿🧡

I never thought I would be this independent again. 🥹

The first time I tried loading my wheelchair into my car by myself, I was terrified. I was shaking, questioning whether my legs would support me, and wondering if I could actually do it.

But to my surprise, I DID IT!

My right leg, which is my stronger leg, gave me the stability I needed to stand, lift my wheelchair, and put it into my car. Something that might seem so simple to others felt like a dream come true to me.

And I have my baclofen pump to thank for helping me get here.

Before getting my pump, severe leg spasms made moving my legs incredibly difficult. I relied on my wheelchair full-time, and I never imagined I would be able to walk short distances, lift my wheelchair, or drive again.

So what is a baclofen pump?

It’s a small device surgically implanted under the skin of the abdomen that delivers baclofen medication through a catheter into the fluid surrounding the spinal cord. It helps manage severe spasticity.

For me, the changes have been life-changing.

First, my spasms became more manageable. Then I started moving my legs more freely. Eventually, I tried standing and taking a few steps. Little by little, my mobility improved.

And now? I’m walking, driving, and loading my own wheelchair into my car!

I still have MS. I still use my wheelchair. I still experience pain and limitations. But I’ve regained a level of independence I genuinely thought I’d lost forever.

My next goal? Walking longer distances. 💪

I’m incredibly grateful for what my baclofen pump has done for my quality of life, and I wouldn’t trade this progress for anything.

One important reminder: This is MY experience. A baclofen pump isn’t a cure for MS, and results vary from person to person. If you’re experiencing severe spasticity, talk to your neurologist or healthcare team about whether this treatment might be appropriate for you.

Sometimes independence looks like something as simple as putting your own wheelchair into your car.

And for me, that means everything. ♿

Living with MS and a disability has brought so many challenges, moments of uncertainty, and days when I’ve questioned my own strength. There have been times when I stopped believing in myself, when my body felt like it was letting me down, and when the future seemed overwhelming.

But through it all, I’ve had someone by my side reminding me that I’m capable, that I’m worthy, and that I still have so much to offer.

He doesn’t have to fix everything or have all the answers. Sometimes, simply knowing that he believes in me when I’m struggling to believe in myself is enough to keep me going.

We don’t need a hundred people cheering us on. Sometimes, one person who genuinely believes in us can make all the difference.

And I’m incredibly grateful that I get to call that person my husband. ❤️

At this time last year, I truly thought my legs had given up on me. I couldn’t move them the way I wanted to. I couldn’t stand. I couldn’t walk. I had no idea if I would ever experience those things again.

And now? I’m walking 10–15 minutes a day. 🥹 Not miles. Not long distances. But steps I once thought might never happen again.

My baclofen pump has helped manage my severe spasticity and given me back a little bit of independence that I never expected. I’m still a wheelchair user, and I still have limitations, pain, and difficult days, but I will never take these steps for granted.

Sometimes progress doesn’t look like getting your old life back. Sometimes it looks like discovering something you thought you had lost forever.

Every minute. Every step. Every little bit of independence means something to me.

Lately, as many of you know I’ve been struggling with frustration, and Instagram has become one of my outlets. After being laid off, I started questioning myself in ways I didn’t expect. I wondered if my work had even mattered. I questioned my value, my abilities, and, hardest of all, I started blaming my disability, feeling like somehow my body had let me down.

Sharing here has given me a window to express some of that frustration instead of keeping everything inside. Not caring if people like my posts or not. Losing a job can mean losing more than a paycheck. For me, it meant grieving some of the independence, purpose, routine, and feeling of productivity that came with working. I’m still learning to separate who I am from what I did for a living.

If you’re going through something similar, please remember: you are still worthy. Your work mattered. Your accomplishments didn’t disappear when your job ended. Give yourself some grace while you figure out what comes next. A job is part of your life, it is not your entire life, and it does not determine your value.

Find an outlet for what you’re feeling. Talk, write, create, cry, make videos, whatever helps you express it safely and don’t care about what people think. You don’t have to swallow every painful emotion just to appear strong.

I’m still figuring this chapter out, too. But I’m reminding myself that losing my job didn’t mean I lost myself.

Do your own thing. Be yourself. And stop worrying so much about what people think of you.

I used to hold myself back because I was afraid of being judged. What would people say about my disability? My videos? My life? But I’ve realized something: the number of people you inspire could be far greater than the number of people judging you.

Show up as yourself. Share your story. Wear what makes you happy. Celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small. Don’t shrink yourself just to make other people comfortable.

You never know who might need to see someone like you living unapologetically.

You are worthy of being seen, heard, and taking up space. Don’t let the fear of judgment keep you from living a life that feels like yours. ♿✨
