I’m not shying away from being who I am, I’m only becoming a better me. They say it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. Fair. I’ve gotten better at the “how.” But if you’re looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear, I’m still the wrong person.

Here are 3 things I’ve learned as someone who is naturally very direct:

• Just because it’s true doesn’t mean it needs to be said immediately.
• Being blunt and being clear are not the same thing.
• People are more likely to accept hard feedback when they feel respected.
