I am still amazed how it all happened. 🤯

This is an update to the photo that was chosen to be featured through a virtual magazine with the theme "Winter" by @cizucu_photo published on January 18, 2026.

I felt ecstatic, speechless and still do not know what I actually feel. It still hasn't sunk in yet. Never did I ever think my photo would be selected out of the many photographers who submitted their photos. Being chosen part of the 12 people who shown their photos is incredible.

I picked this photo to show the other side of the winter in Japan. I neither wanted to feature Japan's hustle and bustle or romanticized photos we've seen on social media. As many of you know, Japan's culture includes relaxing in a sauna for hours. This is their way to relax and rejuvenate. Even the snowmonkeys found in the mountains of Nagano, they adapted to doing the same. The goal was to not just take the photo but bring it to life.

I hope that I inspired you to do what you love and keep on it. I hope I get to share more photos with you and bring you along for the ride. This will be an amazing adventure.

Officially a Wilderness First Responder! 🤙🏽

Having this as my scene in the morning to the evening and taking a bath in the cold creek that connects to the ocean for 5 days was quite an experience.

It was a blessing to be part of the only people living in this part of the Big Sur area. We could see where the landslide was a hundred feet away. Hiking everyday and having classes at the same time and doing scenarios of possible accidents and illness have built my confidence quite a bit to become assessors.

Five days of learning to be a Wilderness First Responder out in Big Sur, CA; disconnected from civilization and camping out has been one of the best experiences I have gotten myself into. Even if I earned my WFR certification does not mean I know everything by now. Everything comes from experience, dealing with different types of people and possible diseases.

Too much to say, but cheers to more of these. 🍻

Winter of 2024 ❄️

I had the chance to go to the Snow Monkey National Park. 🐒 It took me 7 months of waiting till I got to post one of the best photos I have taken with my @lumixjapan @lumix G9ii.

These snowmonkeys have a distinct personality where they stay in these hot springs. They bundle up with their family and try to stay warm. It all started with one monkey who went in the hot spring and then as years went on, the next monkeys did the same till they were called as snow monkeys by the locals because of their character.

I never had the chance to actually find the right caption or felt the right time to post it but here it is.
Yes, I think I am already missing the winter season ❄️ and a lot of us are experiencing the summer heat, I just have to wait till the winter season sets in.

"Always Look Up".

That would probably be the caption for this photo.
This phrase is what I always say during hikes or out camping because there will always be something incredible that your eyes would see.

No, this is not AI.

This is my top photo during the hike to the summit of Fujisan. Hiking up this beautiful and yet tough trail caused us to stop to take short breathers. As my friend and I were taking a breather, I looked up and saw this so I snapped this shot quickly before the moon set. Yes, it took only a few seconds before the moon set. I was stoked about this incredible shot.

So the moral of the story is that even if you are having a short break or a breather during a difficult climb, keep your head up. Look up because you will most likely see something incredible that might just energize you to keep going.

1am early start to hike Mt. Fuji via the Subashiri trail on the Shizouka side.

As early as before midnight climbers were already on their way to the peak. We can already see some of the hikers close to the peak. 🗻 Yet, seeing them close to the peak made me feel a bit antsy and yet excited to climb.

We kept going till the sunrise. Clouds started to break and Shizouka, Japan's city lights started to show. It was incredible. The sunrise on this trail was amazing. Since this was the less crowded and less popular trail, we enjoyed every single second of the sunrise.

This was one of my top favorite photos taken from the whole hike. The sun kept its pace and so did we. This was shot during one of the scenes in my Mt. Fuji film. I remember being stoked about this shot because it came out exactly as I imagined it to be.

This was where everything felt like I was in an airplane, and replacing that tiny window with a 360° view of the sky.

Mt. Fuji was a tough climb while bringing to life photos the best way I can and sharing with you this breathtaking adventure. 🗻

The Laughing Kookaburra 🪶🐦‍⬛

Native in Eastern mainland Australia (though introduced to Tasmania, southwestern Western Australia, and New Zealand).
Although they are grouped as "kingfishers", they are carnivores and primarily eat insects, lizards, mice, and snakes.
