I am proud that I was adopted. And today, I am even prouder to have become an adoptive mother myself.

Life has come full circle in the most beautiful way.

After an unforgettable journey across Colombia, filled with emotions, hope, and love, we are finally safe at home as a family.

Being adopted shaped who I am. Becoming an adoptive parent has given my story a new chapter—one that I will cherish forever.

Home is not just a place. It’s where love finds you.

Not all dads drive a truck.
Not all dads chop wood.
Some dads are on stage.
Some dads are in drag.
And some dads are simply… both.

Yesterday I read Lady Papa or Mocca Papa? to my children. A beautiful book by Emilie Chazerand, with illustrations by DigLee.

We received this wonderful book from Dina — a friend we met in Bogotá, Colombia.

My children were completely captivated. And how beautiful it is to see, at home, the illustrations that are being brought to life here in the theatre.

A book about dads, about imagination, about being free to be yourself, and about how much bigger the world can become when we teach our children to look beyond clichés.

What a proud dad I am. 💙

After an unforgettable journey, we are finally home… and we have the greatest news to share.

We are officially dads! 💙🏳️‍🌈👨‍👨‍👧‍👦

Our hearts are overflowing with love as we introduce the newest members of our family:

🇨🇴our amazing 4-year-old son.
🇨🇴our beautiful 5½-year-old daughter.

What began as a dream has become our reality. This journey has been filled with hope, patience, and unconditional love, and today we are incredibly grateful to begin this new chapter together as a family of four.

To everyone who supported us, encouraged us, and kept us in your thoughts throughout this journey—thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

As artists, we’re often celebrated for movement, performance, and what we create for others. But growth also happens in the quiet moments — when we pause, reflect, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves.

As a choreographer, teacher, and coach, I believe that every experience shapes the way we move through life and through art. Every conversation, every challenge, every moment of rest becomes part of the story we share on stage and beyond.

Tussen Kwetsbaarheid en Kracht

In een tijd waarin beelden vluchtig worden geconsumeerd en identiteit vaak gereduceerd wordt tot filters en façade, kiest Andres de Blust Mommaerts voor een andere benadering. Zijn zelfportretten zijn geen eenvoudige selfies, maar zorgvuldig opgebouwde momenten van introspectie. Ze bewegen zich ergens tussen modefotografie, performance en persoonlijke bekentenis.

Met een directe blik, zachte belichting en een uitgesproken gevoel voor styling onderzoekt Andres de relatie tussen mannelijkheid, zachtheid en zichtbaarheid. Zijn gezicht — omlijst door donkere haren, een scherpe baardlijn en opvallende brillen — wordt geen masker, maar een canvas waarop emoties subtiel verschijnen. In sommige beelden kijkt hij recht in de camera, zelfzeker maar open; in andere dwaalt zijn blik af, alsof hij zich even onttrekt aan de toeschouwer.

Wat opvalt in zijn werk is het contrast tussen alledaagsheid en esthetische verfijning. Een eenvoudige sweater, oogpatches aan de keukentafel, bloemen die half het gezicht verbergen: het zijn banale objecten die door zijn compositie iets filmisch krijgen. Het resultaat voelt intiem, maar nooit toevallig. Elk beeld lijkt een stille scène uit een groter verhaal over identiteit, rust en zelfzorg.

De kleurkeuzes spelen daarin een belangrijke rol. Gedempte groentinten, warm licht en natuurlijke huidtexturen geven de portretten een editoriale kwaliteit zonder afstandelijk te worden. Andres toont zichzelf niet als een onbereikbaar modebeeld, maar als een mens in transformatie — gevoelig, stijlvol en bewust van zijn eigen aanwezigheid.

Zijn zelfportretten herinneren eraan dat fotografie niet alleen dient om iemand vast te leggen, maar ook om iemand te begrijpen. In het werk van Andres de Blust Mommaerts wordt het zelfportret een vorm van zelfonderzoek: eerlijk, esthetisch en opvallend hedendaags.
