@adcc_aus was an amazing experience 🙌

I got to fight @brickusmma for my first time, such a nice guy and great fighter, I look forward to fighting him again someday.

I also got to fight @joaofelipe_bjj17 again, I love our back and forth wins, really helps me grow as a fighter. @joaofelipe_bjj17 fights at @ufcbjj in 2 days, all the best.

Thanks @travismorganjj for coaching me on the day and @larswittlinger.bjj and @calderjaxon for supporting me.

@bobfriasbjj is going to the ADCC World Championships for the second time 🔥

Representing @onepurposebjj , the Australian standout claimed gold at the ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials 2026 after an outstanding run through the stacked -88kg division. We came to the ADCC Trials expecting to tell one story.

The story of the champions.

But somewhere between the celebrations and the silence, we realised we’d been looking in the wrong place.

Some of the most powerful moments happened away from the podium.

The athletes reflecting after defeat.

The quiet embraces.

The courage it takes to chase something with no guarantee of success.

That’s when we understood.

Winning is only one story.

At The North South Project, we’re here to tell the ones that deserve to be remembered.

🏅 -77kg division

Some journeys are measured in medals.

Others are measured in persistence.

Kaya Rudolph has spent nearly two decades on the mats, beginning his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey at just eight years old. Born in New Zealand and now training under @lachlan_giles at @absolutemmastkilda, he’s quietly developed into one of Oceania’s most respected grapplers, sharpening his skills both in Australia and at B-Team Jiu-Jitsu in Austin, Texas.

After falling just short with bronze medals at the ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials in 2022 and 2023, Kaya returned in 2026 with one goal: earn his place on the world’s biggest stage.

This time, he broke through.

Claiming gold in the -77 kg division, Kaya secured his ticket to the ADCC World Championships in Kraków, becoming the first Māori athlete to qualify for and compete at ADCC Worlds.

Some victories are years in the making.

This was one of them.

🏅-88 Weight Division#

Some competitors build their legacy through titles.

Others build it through the people they inspire.

For more than two decades, @bobfriasbjj has dedicated his life to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Beginning his journey at just nine years old, he’s gone on to become a black belt, world-class competitor and Head Coach of @onepurposebjj in Queensland.

Along the way, Roberto has earned medals on some of the sport’s biggest stages, including the World Championships, Pan American Championships, South American Championships and multiple IBJJF Pan Pacific titles. But beyond the podium, his greatest passion lies in developing confident, resilient athletes through the lessons found on the mats.

At the 2026 ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials, Roberto once again stepped forward to test himself against the region’s best.

Because the pursuit of growth never stops.
