The exhibition A:2402 D:2022 is the resulting work of a group of artists who remained working in Ukraine after the full-scale Russian invasion. The artists presenting at the exhibition have united around the improvised residence ‘The Working Room’ (‘Robocha Kimnata’) in the Institution @asortymentna_kimnata located in Ivano-Frankivsk. After February 24, all residence artists from the central and eastern regions of Ukraine relocated to western cities, detached from their practice, archives, and contexts. After a few weeks of laboratory work at the residency, and despite minimal mental adaptation, the project spread to other cities in Western Ukraine and expanded to 17 artists. Remaining in a common workspace in Ukraine, the artists collaborated for three months, opposing their human consternations to develop new methods of understanding the present reality.

The main task of the laboratory was to develop critical thinking, not just to produce an emotional response to the war, which unfolds ridiculously close, both timely and geographically. For this reason, weekly discussion sessions between residency participants attended to images of murdered people and understanding how it will change the framework of "normalcy" in the future. It was essential for practicing artists of the residency to jointly develop different methods of talking about the present - the experience of being at war - in terms of specific artistic strategies, not just theory; this is why most of their personal statements have a common basis. Among the problems the residency worked on, the point of view on the war was critically analyzed: Who looks at it? How is the viewer looking at the war? What exactly does the viewer look at? These fundamental questions created distance for the artists, allowing them to turn from a fleeing target into an author-subject. taken in Kurfürstenstraße by @adcuratorial

Dear friends!
A:D: Curatorial invites you tomorrow
Friday, Oct 6th for the Finissage of Any Day by @endless_the_movie and the performance

SOC.I.A performance at 19:30

SOC.I.A practice focuses on finding a balance between spray-culture, music, and their representation in the gallery space. In our musical-performative videos, we initiate the process of materialization of the sound, giving it a graphic form. And the body in this act serves as a conductor in the bundle of sound-ear-body-hand-spray (brush) -surface. Such balancing of dance plastics in conjunction with music, which is specially created for the video itself, is transformed into graphic images on the surfaces.

During the Berlin Art Week we are inviting you for a special evening within Wojciech Pus’ solo show “Any Day” at A:D: Curatorial: the live set “Silencio” performed by one of the most cutting-edge, contemporary european composers Stefan Węgłowski (solo album releases within labels: KAIROS/Vienna, Glacial Movements/Rome and “Ribbons” collab with Christian Stadsgaard for Posh Isolation/Copenhagen). His work mainly includes compositions for small ensembles and solo instruments. In his works he uses minimalist and spectral techniques, combining them with the broader area of electronic music : such as sampling, field recording, granural synthesis, spatial design. He oscillates between genres such as ambient, noize, drone, experimental music. In his work he seeks connections between timbre, sound intensity, and its processing through new technologies and actions in space.

The group exhibition A:PRÉS D:ÉSSERT addresses social change under expanded aspects of Maslow's system of needs. Hierarchies dissolve and human needs intersect with the holistic nature of ecosystems. The entrances to social constructs transform into systemic exits of collectivity. Multi-perspective escape routes can be discovered in the exhibition - The impossible becomes conceivable, imaginable and negotiable. This can lead to a social-ecological R-evolution that is detached from structural aberrations of our social system. Unforeseen, symbiotic relationships can thus develop between the viewer and the artistic works. The echo reverberates into the future: "Qu'ils mangent de l'A:PRÉS D:ÉSSERT!"

A:D: Curatorial is a non-profit space by curatorial duo Christy Woody and Maria Isserlis that aims to foster open dialogue and promote new artistic work through curated exhibitions and interdisciplinary public programmes. The two curators, from the USA and Ukraine, are committed to providing a platform for today's artists and to showcasing their work in a non-commercial environment.
