This is the scripture I have kept with me along the way. Through every challenge, setback, and lesson, God has carried me through it all.

On May 8, 2026, I walked across the stage with a heart full of gratitude, faith, and pride. An 8 hour journey away from home turned into one of the most defining chapters of my life. A moment I once prayed for, worked for, has now become reality. I am beyond blessed to announce that I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University.

I am especially grateful for my family, whose constant love, support, and encouragement carried me through this journey. You believed in me, prayed for me, and pushed me to keep going even when things felt overwhelming. I am forever thankful for everything you’ve done to help me reach this moment.

Dear Alpha Kappa Alpha,

When the world needed strong, educated, and compassionate Black women to lead and create change, Alpha Kappa Alpha answered that call. Through service, scholarship, sisterhood, and uplifting Black women and communities, this organization has created a legacy that continues to inspire generations. Being a part of something so meaningful is more than I could have imagined, and I will forever be grateful for the women who paved the way before me and for the opportunity to continue that legacy. 🩷🪞💚

To the Gorgeous Gamma Mu Chapter:

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this sisterhood. I can’t even put into words how much joining this sorority has meant to me. You have been so good to me, and I still can’t believe I fulfilled a dream I’ve carried for so long. To stand alongside such accomplished and like-minded women is truly an honor, and I couldn’t have done that without you. I can’t wait to see how this chapter continues to set the standard as it always has. 💗💚

To my 70 Kovalent I.V.I.E.S:

I’m beyond grateful for each of you. We came in as individuals, but we left as something much bigger…Family! I’ll always cherish what we’ve built together and I’m proud of everything we’ve overcome and accomplished. I wouldn’t have wanted to go through this journey with any other group of women but you all! 🩷

To my SSS:

I would have never imagined us getting this close. The bonds we have created and shared are something I’ll always remember. We grew into true sisters, ones who could rely on and lean on each other whenever in need. We pushed and uplifted each other through every challenge, and we genuinely enjoyed each other’s company along the way. Through every high and low, we always found a way to show up for one another, I’m blessed to have each of you in my life, this bond is something I’ll always carry with me. 💞

Oh my, where did the time go?

I’ve loved cheer since I was four years old, but what really started it all was joining the Eastland Vikings at the age of six. That’s where my foundation was built and where my love for the sport truly began. That journey continued until I reached high school, where I joined Bishop Hartley’s cheer team and cheered all four years. This is where my passion for cheer grew even more and pushed me to continue at the next level.

I remember the first time I stepped foot on Alabama A&M’s campus in 2022. It was for tryouts. I was so nervous, but I knew this was what I wanted to do and I had my mind set on it. Joining this team came with so much growth, not knowing that just two years later I would become Captain for the 2024-2025 cheer season and then again for the 2025-2026 season.

Being shy as a child, cheer helped me get out of my comfort zone. I knew whenever I stepped on that floor or stage I was going to give it my all, and that shyness disappeared. That is where I got the name “Silent Killa”, and it followed me all the way into my college career. Cheer has always been my safe space, where I felt like I could express myself the most because I loveee to perform.

I would like to give a special thanks to my Parents, Eastland Vikings, Bishop Hartley, and my AAMU Cheer Coaches for always believing in me even when I did not at times. Cheer has shaped me and helped me grow in many ways. The setbacks, obstacles, and mental blocks all played a part in building me into woman I am today.

Note to Self:

From a young girl with a passion for science, putting together science fair experiments and being drawn to how things work, to now stepping into the lab and preparing to graduate with a degree in Biology, this journey has been impactful for you.

Your time in this field has been full of growth and learning. It has not always been easy, but every challenge has helped you become more confident in yourself and in what you are capable of. Over time, you learned what resilience looks like for you. It is about staying consistent, trusting the process, and believing you are still moving forward even when you cannot always see it clearly. Your faith has kept you grounded, reminding you that even when you do not have all the answers, God is still guiding you.

As a Black woman in [S]TEM, this journey means even more to you. You understand what it means to keep pushing forward in spaces where you are often underrepresented, and you carry that with pride, knowing your presence matters not just for you, but for every young Black girl who can see herself in this path.
