an unforgettable time with incredible people

This is a goodbye I never wanted to say, but unfortunately the time has come. Dance has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t just the movement that made it so important, it was the people. I’ve always been told that family doesn’t necessarily mean blood, and the ATD community truly showed that to me. From being a clueless toddler trying to remember my dance on stage, to choreographing for my littles, I have grown to be the person I am today because of ATD. There will never be enough words to describe how grateful I am for these people, so the best I can say is thank you.

To my fellow dancers, thank you for allowing me to be myself. You have all shown me the true meaning of love and friendship, and I will forever cherish that. You have lifted me up in times of need, made me laugh more times than not, and inspired me to be a better person. Specifically, thank you to my Shining Stars. Every moment we shared was special, from goofing off in practice until we got yelled at, to our pep talks right before we performed; they all meant something more to me. Finally, thank you for simply just sharing the stage with me. There is no better feeling than doing what I love and knowing you are all right there with me.

To Sharon, Jess, Avery, and Suezee, thank you for making my entire journey possible. Your unwavering love and support has allowed my passion for dance to grow and I couldn’t be more grateful. You have believed in me during times I may not have believed in myself. You have helped to create an environment where I feel safe and loved. Your dedication to not just me, but all of the dancers at ATD, has been the sole reason behind our successes and accomplishments. So thank you for being a part of the last 15 years of my life, because I truly couldn’t have done it without you guys.

To my fellow seniors, thank you for sharing this incredible experience with me. We have grown up together and to also take that final bow together is something special. The connections we have with one another can never be broken.
