For as long as I can remember, I wanted a dog. And when I was five, Santa told me I could get one… when I was ten. Longest five years of my life!! But, “Santa” somehow got the timing perfect because in January 2014, outside a petsmart in Central Florida, I met my soulmate in a dog. He was the tiniest dog there with an unusually large tongue, a crooked bum leg, a big spot on his eye and a heart-shaped spot on his back. He was immediately my best friend. He even won my disapproving Dad over (even if he didn’t want to show it, per the image included.)

Tugboat was the best sidekick to grow up with, and took such good care of my parents, especially my Mom, once I moved to NYC.

He loved laying in the sun and he loved little kids and he loved donuts and he loved sitting on the couch and he loved playing hide and seek and he LOVED his family. The water (ironic, I know.) and the vacuum might’ve been the only two things he truly hated.

I’m going to miss him everyday just like I wished for him everyday before I met him. And although I would give anything to play chase with him one more time, I hope wherever he is feels perpetually like a very sunny driveway.

My head is filling up with lots of words, words like lucky and overjoyed and fuckitletsgo and grateful and humbled and long coat; big couch and THANK YOU!!!

Everyone involved in Bugzy amazed me with their natural talent and unwavering dedication to the process over and over and over again, from the auditions, to every rehearsal, to the performances and to all of the bonds formed off-stage.

Thank you all for taking Bugzy in and asking the hard questions and trying the silly things and treating Bugzy with the gentle strength she so desperately desired.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! and I love collaboration and live theater and I am so grateful to have had the privilege to do something like this.

Bugzy asks if they can play again tomorrow…?
