We love to casually say, “I was born in the wrong era for sure…”
because we’re drawn to a simpler life.
We miss the slow, intentional living that our great-grandparents experienced before technology stole our creativity and innovation.
I’ve found myself feeling like my nervous system is in complete overdrive with all of the notifications and onboarding of so much information at a time, about so many people at a time. This has never happened before in history and we have such high rates of anxiety and we are overwhelmed. We have so much to manage, physically and mentally.

This morning I was able to put a quick little order in for a delivery of some groceries because I’m feeling sick, and I’m reminded that I can be in control of what I’m consuming and how much. I think we can have the best of the old world and the benefits of the new if we kept it all in perspective. #sahm #socialmedia by @addiedanielle89

May is cystic fibrosis awareness month.

What is airway clearance ?

The process of using medications and nebulized medication along with chest percussion (manually or with a vest) to encourage the movement of mucus in the lungs to prevent infections. Mucus has a purpose to trap bacteria. Cystic fibrosis makes thick, sticky mucus that doesn’t travel well. Flovent is a corticosteroid. It’s pretty common for cf patients to deal with asthma as well, but they are separate conditions. Albuterol is a bronchodilator. One of the nebulized meds is called hypertonic saline and it hydrates the mucus while the shaking or percussions gets it moving and hopefully cleared out. (I’ll spare you any more details about how that happens. 😆) Pulmozyme is an incredible medication that works like scissors to cut the mucus and break it up to make it easier to expel.

Sometimes, a “superbug” is detected in a culture and a hardcore antibiotic is needed in super fine particles via nebulizer. (Enter the dreaded Tobramycin or unaffectionately known as “Tobi…” 😮‍💨) #cfkids #cysticfibrosis #awareness by @addiedanielle89

Jade sees her pulmonologist, nutritionist, respiratory therapist, and sometimes Gastroenterologist at minimum 4x a year with labs done twice a year. Every visit she has a special test done called a PFT( pulmonary function test). She also gets a swab in the back of the throat to take samples to grow in a petri dish 🧫where we can see what may be setting up camp in her lungs. The culture may be normal respiratory flora, but it could also be a dangerous bug. 🦠 Sometimes she requires special procedures like ultrasounds or xrays .
Clinic appointments are so important, and Jade has a whole team of people cheering her on and encouraging her to stay healthy. #CFKids #cysticfibrosis #cfmom #may by @addiedanielle89

It was November, 2019.
Jade was 4 months old.
She was just under 10 pounds.
In and out of the hospital for lung infections.
She qualified for a vest way early to hopefully improve her quality of life and help keep her at home.

The vest is a replacement for manual CPT or chest physiotherapy. We had been doing this manually, cupping her chest in various targeted spots on her lungs to aid in moving mucus around so it will clear out and not get comfy and create dangerous bacteria.
This is just one of the treatments Jade needs and continues to this day, morning and evening. #cfkids #cysticfibrosisawareness #may #cfmom by @addiedanielle89

I realize it’s Easter, and this is not a resurrection post.
I’m sick resting in bed and I’m scrolling through my camera roll. I have to go through it and regularly delete the dozens and dozens of toddler selfies and knee shots to save my storage space 😂.

These days are so, so long… but they are more precious than anything. I’m so thankful to live in a time where I can capture almost anything I want to remember in stills, audio, video- I can have it all to look back on. by @addiedanielle89
