“The Heidi Chronicles” as Heidi with actor Henry Barrial who played Scoop. I played this role and Amanda in “The Glass Menagerie” as an AEA Guest Artist for The Montana Repertory’s Masters Program. 1994. Henry was a graduate of the Master’s Program and one of the founders of The Young Rep. Several of my NYC actor friends questioned my sanity in taking on both huge roles with only one month rehearsal. However, I have always been one to accept challenges and these roles were too worthwhile to say no. After opening in Missoula, we set out in a van with two trucks containing the sets and costumes. Our tour traveled for 3.5 months to states up and down the west coast covering cities large and small. The tour also included Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, many cities in Montana before returning to Missoula in the spring. My time with Montana Rep was fabulous! #montanarepertory #theheidichronicles #wendywasserstein #theglassmenagerie #tennesseewilliams #touring My search of news archives continues. As mentioned, all of my memorabilia was destroyed in a flood. by @addiesuraci

A Reminder to Myself of the Power in my Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Bodies. A Chorus Line perfectly harnessed these life forces in my performances as Cassie in the 1970’s and early1980’s. This triple threat lives on in me for perpetuity. Forever grateful. ❤️ by @addiesuraci

“Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward at South Jersey Regional Theatre. 1990 I played Ruth. More later… by @addiesuraci

“Light Up The Sky” By Moss Hart. Photo from newspaper. Me as Irene, the Diva actress with actor William Vederber who played the Director. This was at Merrimack Rep Theatre, and directed by David Zoffoli. This was my second “Light Up The Sky.” The first being staged by Ellis Raab at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. I was hired as understudy to Carrie Nye who played Irene. Fritz Weaver was the Director. Nancy Marchand was Irene’s mother. Peter Falk was Sidney. Debra Rush, his wife. Steven Culp, the young playwright. Barry Nelson, Patricia Kilgariff- an all star cast! My friend Lane Binkley was Ms. Rush’s cover. As fate would have it, Carrie called in sick on a Tuesday when I was shooting a Coppertone commercial, had been in the pool and sun with sunblock all day, and had never had a rehearsal. No rehearsal whatsoever. I arrived at the theatre by half hour to find our PSM pacing outside waiting for me. Seems he had tried to reach me but I was on set and they knew that. The messages never reached me and if they had I still would not have arrived until half hour. He whisked me away to hair and makeup. 1940’s hairstyle done by a wizard. Ms. Rush sitting next to me asking “You must be very nervous?” To which I replied, “No, I don’t have time to be nervous. I have a job to do. Trust me, I won’t drop a line or bump into you. “ And, with that I went on and kept my promise! Nancy Marchand picked me and whirled me around on stage right after my bow! The cast was applauding before we hit our final tableau. It is a night I shall I always remember. I went on again on Weds for the matinee and evening performances. Later, Carrie broke her contract and Peter Falk followed suit. Robert Morse was brought in to play Sidney, and I was given the role of Irene for the remainder of the run. It was wonderful to work with Bobby as I knew him from Luigi’s jazz class and he remembered me, too. We had a lovely time! More about my LUTS productions. Their similarities and differences. Gotta go for now! by @addiesuraci

“Look at all the People!” This cast was my heart and soul when I joined the National as Cassie. Stage name Catherine Cooper. Nickname Addie. A brilliant company filled with top drawer talent. How lucky, how humbled, and how grateful I was and am. I gave them my 110-150% every performance. As a rule, reading reviews is a no no for me. However, now that my memorabilia was destroyed in a flood some 20 years ago, I’m attempting to reconstruct some semblance of a timeline with the hope of locating photos during my archival deep dive. The search has revealed reviews which have lifted my spirits so high. I will refrain from tooting my horn here. If you are interested, by all means ask me and I will share the glittering gems. Reminders of what was my Cassie legacy. I then moved on… so many beautiful plays. Michael always loved my acting. He would be proud, I think. @baayork @achorusline50 @achoruslineshuberttheatre #nationalcompany1980 #deeplygrateful #aswetravelon 💃🏼 by @addiesuraci

My Cassie. My stage name was Catherine Cooper. Nickname: Addie . National Co. 1980.transferred to International Co. 1980. When National became B & T. Performed until a back injury sidelined me and was transferred to Bway to US Cassie/Sheila/Val. On almost every week. Some weeks in every role. Departed company Dec 31, 1984 to compete in finals of Star Search which I won in Acting category. Invited to perform Cassie with Trish Garland’s mounting of ACL at San Jose Civic Light Opera in November, 1985. First week of rehearsal was flown to Long Beach Civic Light Opera to cover/perform for Cheryl Clark who had laryngitis. Their Cassie cover was not up to speed yet and LBCLO house is huge. A strong voice was needed in addition to the acting and dancing.
It was great to see old friends in that company and to work with David Thome as Zach again. I performed Friday 2 shows Sat and one Sunday. They put me up at The Breakers! Lovely! Then, back to San Jose for rehearsal on Tuesday for the week! When I made the flight, I was taken straight from rehearsal in San Jose. Rehearsal clothes. Dance bag. And my book. In Long Beach, they provided my toiletries and took very good care of me. Deeply grateful for ALL! @achoruslineshuberttheatre @achorusline50 @baayork @cherdancercoach #whatIdidforLove #starsearchwinner1985 #CatherineCooper #addie by @addiesuraci
