part 1
-
The reason of this post is to show some of my favorite parts of this book. It’s not necessarily annotated, but it still makes sense to me. The things I’ve tabbed down and marked on the pages are what have either inspired me or connected to me in a deeper, personal level. So, I’ve decided to share it.
-
Maurice by E. M. Forster is my absolute favorite book and film. I’ve watched it a million times and have only read it once but plan to do that more. A lot of my inspiration for writing in general came from this book/movie and I couldn’t imagine what I’d be doing without it always in the back of my mind.
-
Sure, there is more than just this simple story that’s helped me and inspired me but this is what started it all. Nothing has yet to come close to this beautiful tragedy for me. I don’t think anything will.
-
A lot people know that I’ve been trying to write a book for a few years now and have not even come close to finishing it. What people may not know is that it is heavily inspired by Maurice. The setting, time period, characters, almost everything. Forster’s novel and James Ivory’s movie has seriously impacted me more than anything else I’ve taken an interest in. And getting to use that in my own work really means something to me.
-
I hope to use my work to inspire others and make them want to pursue what they want and not what others want for them. It’s hard enough trying to figure it all out as a teenager but it’s more difficult when your peers or family is breathing down your neck about a field you’d never even considered. Through the past few years of school I’ve learned that nothing has made me happier than writing stories, scripts, or prompts and showing them to people to get their feedback. Whether it be bad, good, neutral. It just gives me so much purpose to continue to grow in my work and to maybe one day see it more than just in my notes app.
-
Thank you so anyone who actually reads this. It means more than you think. by @addin0s

part 2
-
I don’t have much more to say on this second part. I just needed more space for the rest of the book.
-
But one thing I will say is that the very last part of this slide is probably one of my favorite things in the whole novel.
-
It left me with sorrow but happiness in a way a lot of other things haven’t. Though it might seem simple and probably not the best ending you’d ever read, it was absolutely perfect to me.
-
I hope to write something like this story one day to continue the love for this era of literature and even continue making films of it.
-
Again, if you read all of this, thank you. by @addin0s
