Balancing Thursday at the Symphony with Sunday at Chicago Blues Fest! Mississippi-based Delta Blues dude Freddy T was on fire. AND THE BIG discovery was a blues singer/guitarist named Melody Angel. taken in Jay Pritzker Pavilion by @addingtonart

Steph accompanied me to to the CSO last night (which is good because we were belatedly celebrating her birthday) and we heard and saw the Chicago Symphony Orchestra AND the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra featuring The Great Winton Marsalis. The fusion of classical and jazz elements was revelatory. And I discovered that when I am not staring at the guitars in front of me at a concert, I listen to music differently :-) by @addingtonart

Had a great afternoon at the Elmhurst Art Museum selecting award winners live (after having earlier juried this Small Works Exhibition with Andrew Sobol.) What a beautiful gem of an institution! So many striking and engaging pieces! The opening is Friday June 12, 6-8pm.
From the press release: The 2026 Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists (CAVA) Small Works Exhibition at the Elmhurst Art Museum was juried by artist/gallerist Dan Addington and Andrew Sobol, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Art & Design at Elmhurst University.

Was excited and proud on a hot Saturday near the end of the season to cheer on the dude at the Chicago City Championships! He brought back two medals, one for the 4x800m relay (their season record) and one for the 1600m (mile) run!

Hello Facebook sports fans! Big track and field news! The once lil' dude competed in the 1600m varsity (mile) run at the recent St Ignatius Friday Night Lights all Chicago meet. 75 runners competed in 4 heats. Of the 75, he placed 5th, with a time of 4:28, a personal best! She's been after that sub-4:30 time this season, and he got it.

The meet is held in the West Loop area, and offers great evening views of the Chicago skyline in the background. Here's one of my fave pics... at the end of lap 1. That's him in the Jones jersey!

So proud of Aedric as he finishes out his high school career with such work, dedication and style! It's been exciting to see him chase his goals! taken in St. Ignatius College Prep by @addingtonart
