dear softball,

words could never truly express what you have given me. from the grit of the dirt-stained jerseys to the laughter in the dugout with best friends who became family, you’ve been the heartbeat of my life for as long as i can remember. i’m forever thankful that through the long, humid practices, the frustrating slumps, and the tough losses, i stuck with it.

it feels like just yesterday i was stepping onto the dirt for my first game, with a glove that was way too big and a heart full of nerves. looking back, i had no idea that those chalked lines would become my safe haven. now, i can’t believe the final inning has actually come. you were always so much more than just a game to me; you were my constant. you got me through the hardest times in my life, giving me a place to clear my head when the world felt too loud and a team to lift me up when i couldn’t do it on my own.

thank you for the early morning tournaments, the bus rides that lasted for hours, and the adrenaline of a close play at the plate. but most of all, thank you for teaching me how to be resilient, how to lead with confidence, and how to find joy in the grind. as i hang up my cleats, i realize i’m leaving the field a completely different person than the girl who first walked onto it. i may be moving on to a new chapter, but i’m carrying the strength and the fire you gave me into everything i do next.
