This weekend my cheer team and I had the privilege of competing at NCA, the biggest cheer competition out there. over 30,000 athletes and it was a nightmare for almost all of us. we experienced something that nobody should ever have to. back in warm ups on the first mat and seeing a crowd running and screaming “shooter” is absolutely terrifying to see. hearing the booms. the smell. the screams. panic on everyone’s faces. hearing the security yell active shooter. then hearing your coaches yell at you “run” is absolutely horrifying to experience. we ran far and fast in a huge panic. grabbing your best friends hands. hugging. crying. and screams are forever engraved then into my mind. not knowing if you’ll see your parents or teammates ever again is such a scary feeling nobody should ever need to experience. what we had gone through this weekend is disgusting. this weekend really showed how strong we can be and how something you love can turn into a nightmare in a blink of an eye. by @addison.biodrowski
