Crazy, crazy… 🥹🫶🏼

I’ve only been in Brisbane for seven weeks, but somehow it already feels like so much has happened.

Coming from a smaller drag scene into a city filled with so many incredibly talented Queens, Kings and artists was honestly overwhelming — and, if I’m being completely truthful, a little scary for this small-town girl.

But I decided to do what I’ve always done: just show up and be me.

I supported local drag whenever I could, not just at the venue I was working at. I made sure there was always a USB in my handbag ready to go — because you never bloody know 😂. I was kind, stayed out of the drama, supported the people around me and made sure that everywhere I went, I represented exactly who I am.

Of course, there may have been the occasional appearance from the drunken Darwin girl… and perhaps a cheeky joint here and there 😂🌿

But only seven weeks in, I’ve already met some truly beautiful people and made friendships that I’m so grateful for. I’ve been welcomed, supported and given opportunities that I never expected to happen this quickly.

I’m booked, I’m blessed, and most importantly, I’m genuinely happy. 🥹

Somewhere along the way, Brisbane stopped feeling like the place I moved to and started feeling like the place I belong.

It doesn’t feel like I’m on holiday anymore.

Just like this beautiful orchid that’s getting ready to bloom because it’s finally in an environment where it can thrive, I feel like I’m doing exactly the same. 🌸

Three weeks in Meanjin/Brisbane, and I can honestly say I feel so incredibly happy, settled and at peace. I keep asking myself why I waited so long to make this move, but I truly believe everything happens when it’s meant to.

Sometimes you don’t realise how much you’ve outgrown an environment until you find yourself somewhere that allows you to breathe, grow and blossom into the next version of yourself.

Everything has fallen into place so beautifully that it feels like the universe is gently reminding me, “You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.” 🫶🏼
