I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to run D1 track and cross country at Samford University!! I want to first off thank my family, teammates, and friends for being my support system allowing me to get to this point. Next off, I would like to thank Coach Balyo and Coach Tiffin for this amazing opportunity. Finally and most importantly, I want to thank God for giving me the strength to achieve so many great things for his glory!
I absolutely can't wait to be a bulldog!! I am going back home to Homewood, my birthplace, and I can't think of a better place to spend the next couple of years. Go Bulldogs!! ❤️💙 by @addisonsutton_

Two main words for sophomore year: refinement and gratitude. So many sweet moments to look back on and be filled with gratitude that makes my cup overflow! But also a year filled with a lot of growth and self reflection through various setbacks and opposition. Wouldn’t change any of it though, for I know the Lord's plans are good through it all. I have seen him be so intentional through every interaction I’ve had this year and the places he has put me in when I have least expected it. I’ve grown dramatically in my relationship with the Lord and others through all the setbacks and truly have seen many testaments of the Lord’s faithfulness over the course of this year and where he has decided to plant my feet.

Sophomore year looked quite a bit different than I planned or expected to have, but I know the Lord’s purpose for me is far greater than anything I can try and control on my own. I sure have learned what uncertainty and patience have looked like this year , and through it I have learned how to trust the Lord no matter the circumstances I face learning to be steadfast in faith. At times literally and physically carrying out in endurance through sports; while at many other times holding on to the fact that the Lord is always present and a good good father listening to all my prayers I lift up high even when things feel quiet or aren’t answered in the way I hoped for them to be. And don’t get me wrong, there were so many moments this year that have been answered prayers, but the ones that weren’t I have resonated and learned how to live out Philippians 4:11-12 and be content and have peace no matter the circumstances or outcomes.
My joy comes from the Lord: Yahweh, Healer, and the prince of peace! He is my shepherd and he will never leave me astray and never fail me (Hebrews 13:5).

Whether on a mountain top or in a valley, the Lord has sustained me and given me endurance to run the race he has set before me. “…Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressures will develop in us patient endurance. What? Year one done already?! Beyond grateful to go to college at a place that makes it so easy to miss— even if it’s only 3 months. Extra thankful for this place, these people, and how evident the Holy Spirit moves in this place!! Some of my favorite things about this past semester and year: lots of new friends, runs and workouts with the team, SOAC adventures/socials, CAVA runs, several trips to state parks, finding a church home, sharing meals with so many sweet friends, watching sports games, fun( and serious) study sessions and so much more!!

Despite quite a bit of adversity this year, I find myself smiling every day because of the most genuine, funny, and kind people I am blessed to be surrounded by. See you again in 3 months @samfordu!!! 🤗 taken in Samford University by @addisonsutton_
