I’m trying to be where I am, when I’m there

while I don’t really think about resolutions, I knew this year I wanted things to be different, this past year taught me so much about myself and even though it was hard for me to get through, I’m able to look at the city around me in a new light, appreciate all of my beautiful friends and family and feel incredibly grateful to say that I am proud of who I’m becoming,

the second I stopped trying to be perfect was when doors opened for me, or rather I wasn’t afraid to walk through them anymore

I think a lot about what Addison wanted for herself when she was little, and I feel closer to that version I wanted each day <3

a few months ago I jotted down, “sometimes all it takes is one person to like one part of another, thus prompting them to be that version and disregard any others. we become what we’re desired for, put other parts of ourselves in our back pocket, until we forget it’s there.”

I wanted to expand upon this idea of putting things in your back pocket until you can’t anymore - a simple notion, a simple poem, and a not so simple thing to experience
