Coach the Person, Not the Problem.

When you fix a problem for someone, they get a solved problem. When you coach them through it, you get a capable person. Which one are you building?

Try This:This week, when someone brings you a problem, pause and ask: “Do they need me to fix this, or do they need me to coach them through fixing it?” Yes, it’ll slow you down. That’s the whole point.

I know this because I've sat with enough leaders to see the pattern, and because I still have to remind myself of it too.

Before a big moment, the body does the same thing every time. Heart racing. Brain on overdrive. And most of us just call it nervousness and push through.

The research actually shows that your body cannot tell the difference between nervousness, excitement, and anticipation.

The only thing that changes the experience is what you name it.
I've been practicing the pause before those moments lately. Getting curious instead of just reacting.

It's a small shift. But it's been a meaningful one.
