dear softball,

after 15 years of countless hours on the field, too much money spent on lessons, and everything my body could physically handle, our journey is finally over. to have a sport not only consume so many hours of my life, but also shape who i am today, is something i am so grateful to have experienced. softball has become my other half, and as scary as it sounds, it’s a huge part of the reason i am who i am today.

i’ve never known a life where softball wasn’t a part of it. whether it was giving me my closest friends and dearest memories, or leaving me crying out of frustration over not being able to hit a yellow ball, this game has shaped me in more ways than anyone could realize. softball has taught me resilience and how to overcome obstacles that once felt impossible to get around. it taught me not to take myself too seriously and to start enjoying life. it taught me how to be a leader and guide others in the right direction. and for all of that, i say thank you.

and to summit softball specifically, i can’t believe it’s over. thank you for the most amazing four years i could have asked for. i’m undoubtedly aware of how lucky i was to grow up alongside the best group of seniors. i learned something from every single one of them, and i hope to carry those lessons with me. i’m also endlessly grateful for the most uplifting group of girls i get to call my teammates. you all have truly impacted me for the better, and i’m going to miss you all so much.

after defining my life for so long, i’m excited to see where this next chapter ,one without softball, will take me. knowing that my weekends from now on won’t be spent on a softball field is scary, but i’m excited to see what will come from it. 💙🧡 ALSO I CAN’T BELIEVE WE WENT TO STATE #SP4L #28out taken in Summit High School by @addyreese8
