Not much to say except: "99 CENTS" is the second track to drop off deadbeatniks’ album #IMAGINATION, but it’s not just a song. Imagination is an #audiovisual album, and "99 CENTS" is the newest music video universe from el maestro @yesimfaceless. The last one was “Ayahuasca” if you remember that 🤨 by @adeadbeatnik

Y’all deadbeatniks is finally putting out IMAGINATION, the full length audiovisual album we started not long after moving to New Orleans over a decade ago from Carrboro NC via some other places. We’re gonna do that stupid contemporary social media format of releasing a “single” a week for a few weeks til we release the complete album on March 20. The first “single” is “Whole Foods,” and it came out today 2/24! Anuraag sings and plays keys, Dan raps and programmed the drums, and like on the rest of the album, we had contributions from great local musicians—@whitneyalouisious on vocals, @noahyoungbass on electric bass, @roygeewiz on acoustic bass, and Keenan Mcrae on guitar. The track was painstakingly mixed by Dan and mastered by @maorappelbaummastering. Next week’s release is “99 CENTS” on March 4, and that is gonna come with a trademark @yesimfaceless video! Remember “Ayahuasca”?!? It’s kind of like that but actually not really. Anyway, “Whole Foods” is out today to listen wherever you do that, and stay tuned for IMAGINATION. taken in New Orleans, Louisiana by @adeadbeatnik

DEADBEATNIKS “JAMBALAYA SUITCASE” this is actually the third recorded version of this song, but it is also the original version, and our favorite 😉, in part because we were able to get some of the very best musicians we know to play on it: @brandenjlewis on trumpet, @isaaceady on drums, @whitneyalouisious on backing vocals, @_jmulcahy on bass. @yallpendyal on keys/lead vocals, @adeadbeatnik as always on the production, @yesimfaceless as always with the art. @yallpendyal wrote this song circa 2011, on his very first ever visit to New Orleans. We recorded it in 2017, and in typical deadbeat fashion, have been sitting on it ever since, but now it is out for you to listen as the latest single from our impending album IMAGINATION. If you’ve forgotten or never knew who we are, check out our music video “Ayahuasca” from Spring 2023, and stay tuned for the “99 CENTS” video which will be dropping this fall.
