🎉 TODAY IS A VERY SPECIAL DAY ON OUR FARM! 🥚🐔 FROM DAY-OLD CHICKS TO THEIR FIRST EGG ❤️ 17 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS LATER… THEY HAVE STARTED LAYING! 🎉🥚 Today is one of those days that reminds you why you started. We watched these birds arrive as tiny, fragile day-old chicks. We brooded them. Fed them. Vaccinated them. Cared for them through the difficult days. Managed the challenges. Watched them grow week after week. And today, at 17 weeks and 2 days, they started laying their first eggs. 🥚❤️ This video is a short journey from where it all started to where we are today. From tiny chicks… To pullets… To the beginning of egg production. For us, this is more than just an egg. It represents months of feeding, management, vaccination, labour, patience, sleepless nights and consistency. And honestly, today is a happy day for us at Adebayo Farm. 🎉 The journey is not over. In fact, this is just the beginning of another important phase. Now, the real work begins. We will continue to monitor their feed intake, water consumption, health, body weight and egg production as they gradually come into full production. One day, they were just day-old chicks. Today, they have started giving us eggs. This is why farming requires patience. You don’t plant today and harvest tomorrow. You nurture. You manage. You wait. And one day, you see the result of your work. ❤️🐔🥚 17 WEEKS. 2 DAYS. FIRST EGGS. 🎉 What a beautiful journey! 🙏🏽 #AdebayoFarm #PoultryFarming #LayerFarming #ChickenFarming #PoultryBusiness FarmJourney FromDayOldToLayers EggProduction Layers FarmLife Agribusiness PoultryFarm NigeriaFarmers FarmingInNigeria by @adebayofarms
🚨 “YOUR POULTRY FARMING CALCULATION IS IMPOSSIBLE!” WHY DO SOME PEOPLE DISCOURAGE FARMERS FROM PLANNING? 📊 BOQ AND PROFIT PROJECTIONS ARE GUIDES, NOT GUARANTEES! I’ve seen farmers share their capital requirements, expenses and profit projections, only to receive comments like, “This is impossible. You can’t predict farming!” But does the existence of risks mean we should stop planning? Feed prices can increase, diseases can occur, birds can die, and market prices can change. That’s exactly why financial planning is important. Remember, your location, feed prices, labour and management costs may differ from mine. My calculation might work in my location but require adjustments in yours. My advice to beginners: Don’t depend on just one farmer or mentor. Learn from Farmer A, compare with Farmer B, and take valuable lessons from Farmer C. Build your own realistic plan. And please, appreciate farmers who take time to share their experiences and financial breakdowns. If you disagree with their figures, correct them with facts. Projection is not about predicting the future perfectly. It’s about preparing before investing your money. 🥚 LET’S INTERACT! Would you like me to break down the capital, expenses and potential profit of raising: 👇 300 LAYERS OR 500 LAYERS? Which should we calculate first? #AdebayoFarm #PoultryFarming #PoultryBusiness #PoultryBOQ #Agribusiness NigerianFarmers by @adebayofarms
🥚 FARMERS, LET’S TALK ABOUT CRACKED EGGS! HAVE YOU EVER REGRETTED GIVING YOUR WORKERS CRACKED EGGS? Sometimes, what starts as a simple gesture of appreciation can turn into an unpleasant experience on the farm. Some poultry farmers have interesting stories about allowing their workers to take cracked eggs home. Let’s hear your experience. Do you think workers should have access to cracked eggs as part of their benefits? Poultry farmers, share your experiences. 💩🐔 THE DIRTY SIDE OF POULTRY FARMING! 😂 🏠 YOUR BIRDS PRODUCE EGGS, BUT WHO MANAGES THE POO? Let’s be honest, poultry farming isn’t just about feeding birds, collecting eggs, and counting profit. Managing chicken manure is also part of the business, especially when your farm is in a residential area. So, farmers, let’s talk! 👇 How often do you remove manure from your poultry house? Every day, three times a week, or once a week? And if you live close to residential buildings, how do you control the smell and keep your neighbours comfortable? 🗣️ LET’S LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! 👇 What’s your manure management secret? Share it with us! #AdebayoFarm #PoultryFarmers #PoultryFarming #BatteryCageSystem #PoultryManure FarmManagement AgricultureNigeria by @adebayofarms
31 WEEKS OF GROWTH, LESSONS & REAL FARM EXPERIENCES! 🐔📊 FROM 612 BIRDS TO DAILY EGG PRODUCTION. THE JOURNEY CONTINUES! Today, October 30, officially marks 31 weeks since we received our birds on March 27, 2026. We started with: 🐣 500 pullets 🐔 100 Noilers 🐥 12 extra chicks A total of 612 birds! Along the way, we recorded 12 mortalities, all from the pullets. We sold our Noilers in batches and also sold 100 pullets at 14 weeks to a customer in Lagos, who has already booked another 200 birds! HERE IS WHAT THE JOURNEY HAS TAUGHT US. From day-old to 24 weeks, we used approximately 190 to 200 bags of feed. We administered the IBDs vaccine at 16 weeks, and at 17 weeks and 2 days, we picked our first two eggs! By 22 weeks, egg sales had started contributing meaningfully towards feed expenses. OUR CURRENT FARM UPDATE: 🐔 397 pullets + 1 male 🥚 Daily production: 10–12 crates 🌾 Daily feed: 45kg 💧 Daily water: 150–180 litres 💡 Lighting: 7pm–10pm Our current egg prices: Big eggs: ₦4,850 per crate. Pullet-size eggs: ₦4,200 per crate. We are not declaring profit yet. We are still recovering our capital and reinvesting in the business. We still have projects to complete, including fencing, an egg store and an office. HERE IS MY MESSAGE TO EVERY BEGINNER: Poultry farming is not a quick-money business. It takes planning, patience, proper management and financial discipline. You don’t have to start with thousands of birds, but you must understand what you are getting into before investing your money. Many of you have followed this journey since March 27. You have watched these birds grow from day-old chicks into laying birds. Don’t just watch other people’s progress forever. Learn, plan and take your first step. 🚨 MUST YOU BE AN EGG PRODUCER TO MAKE MONEY FROM EGGS? 🥚 💰 HAVE ₦1 MILLION? YOU DON’T HAVE TO START A POULTRY FARM! You have ₦1 million, no poultry farming experience, no established market, and no marketing strategy, yet you want to squeeze yourself into layer farming because of the profits you see farmers calculating online? Think again! With that ₦1 million, you can consider starting an egg distribution business instead of immediately investing in egg production. You can buy eggs from established poultry farms and resell them to retailers, shops, restaurants and consumers. You won’t have to worry about feeding birds, vaccination, mortality or daily farm management. Remember, producing eggs and selling eggs are two different businesses. Both require knowledge, planning and a market strategy. Sometimes, the smartest decision is not to produce what you want to sell. It’s to learn how to sell it first! 💬 LET’S TALK! If you had ₦1 million today, which business would you choose? 🚨 HEAT SEASON ALERT! PREDATORS MAY BE CLOSER TO YOUR POULTRY FARM THAN YOU THINK! 🐍🐈 DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOU START LOSING BIRDS! Many poultry farmers associate January, February and March with increased predator activity because of the dry season and heat. But with the unusual heat we are experiencing now, we need to pay more attention to farm security. Predators such as snakes, cats, rats, mongooses and other wild animals may threaten your birds, eggs and chicks. 🐓 Here are 7 precautions every poultry farmer should take: Clear the bushes: Cut overgrown grass and remove hiding places around your poultry house. Bury dead birds properly: Never throw poultry carcasses carelessly around your farm. They can attract scavengers and other unwanted animals. Dispose of them safely and according to local veterinary guidance. Secure openings: Check holes, broken wire mesh, doors and other possible entry points. Protect your chicks: Young chicks are particularly vulnerable to predators. Use secure brooding areas. Control rats: Keep feed stores clean, remove spilled feed and use safe, appropriate rodent-control methods. Secure your feed and eggs: Store feed in covered containers and collect eggs regularly. Inspect your farm daily: Check for droppings, tracks, holes and other signs of unwanted visitors. Remember, prevention is cheaper than losing your birds! Have you ever found a snake inside your poultry house? Do cats disturb your chicks? Share your experience. Your advice could help another farmer prevent losses! #AdebayoFarm #PoultryFarming #PoultryFarmers #HeatStress #FarmSecurity PoultryManagement PredatorControl LivestockFarming AgricultureNigeria by @adebayofarms
🐔 500 LAYERS, 2.24 BAGS OR 2.5 BAGS DAILY? BEFORE YOU FOLLOW THE CROWD, LET’S DO THE MATH! 🤔 ISA Brown’s published average feed intake is 112g per bird daily during the laying period. For 500 birds: 112g × 500 = 56kg daily. 56kg ÷ 25kg per bag = 2.24 bags daily. But remember, actual consumption varies with weather, egg production, bird size and management. You may need to budget for 2.5 bags to allow for possible wastage. My question is simple: Do you calculate your birds’ feed intake, or do you follow what other farmers say? 👇 How many 25kg bags do you use daily for 500 layers on your farm? Share this post so another farmer can learn too! #AdebayoFarm #PoultryFarming by @adebayofarms

FROM SCRAP IRON TO A FUNCTIONAL BIRD CAGE! 🐔🔥 I Bought These Battery Cages for Just ₦9,000. Would You Spend ₦45,000 to Turn Them into This? 🤔 Some of you may remember this post from a few months ago. Many people probably didn’t believe what I was planning to do with these cages! Almost two years ago, I bought two pieces of used battery cages from a scrap iron dealer for just ₦4,500 each. They were still in good condition, but I didn’t have an immediate use for them. I kept them in my store, hoping to get more pieces to complete a unit. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Fast forward to this year, I decided to put them to use instead of allowing them to remain in storage. I called my carpenter, bought wood, nails, two new zinc sheets, paint, and plumbing materials. I also used some spare nipple drinkers I already had in the store. The result? A functional two-tier cage with a nipple drinking system! 💧 Currently, I have 12 six-week-old turkeys on the upper level and 12 six-week-old Noilers on the lower level. Yesterday, our birds clocked six weeks! In my next post, I’ll share more about the turkeys, Noilers, and Brahma. 💰 Total cost: Approximately ₦42,000 to ₦45,000, including the original cages, materials, and workmanship. Now, let’s be honest. Was this a wise investment, or would you have spent the money on a different type of cage? Sometimes, something you buy without an immediate plan can become useful when you think creatively. However, being economical should never come at the expense of your birds’ comfort, space, and welfare. Remember, this setup is currently being tested. Its long-term suitability will depend on the available space, bird growth, ventilation, and ease of cleaning. Share your honest opinion. 🐔 ₦1.3 MILLION INVESTMENT IN JUST 100 LAYERS! 😳💰 AFTER 18 MONTHS, WILL YOU MAKE A PROFIT OR COUNT YOUR LOSSES? LET’S DO THE MATHEMATICS! In our previous post, we broke down the capital required to raise 100 layers from day-old chicks until they start laying. Now, let’s calculate the possible returns. 📌 1. OUR PRODUCTION We started with 100 birds. Assuming 10% mortality, 90 birds remain. At 80% production: 90 × 80% = 72 eggs daily, or approximately 2.4 crates. At ₦4,600 per crate: Daily revenue: ₦11,040 Weekly: ₦77,280 Monthly: ₦331,200 🌽 2. FEED EXPENSES One bag costs ₦14,650. Assuming half a bag daily: Daily: ₦7,325 Weekly: ₦51,275 Monthly: ₦219,750 💊 3. OTHER EXPENSES Let’s budget ₦15,000 monthly for medication, vaccination and other routine expenses. 📊 4. THE CALCULATION Monthly revenue: ₦331,200 Less feed: ₦219,750 Less other expenses: ₦15,000 Estimated monthly balance: ₦96,450. Over 18 months: ₦96,450 × 18 = ₦1,736,100. 🐔 5. SELLING SPENT LAYERS Assuming 80 birds remain and each sells for ₦9,000: 80 × ₦9,000 = ₦720,000. Total projected balance: ₦1,736,100 + ₦720,000 = ₦2,456,100. Less initial investment of ₦1.3 million: Estimated balance: ₦1,156,100! 💰 ⚠️ IMPORTANT: This is a simplified projection, NOT guaranteed profit. Production changes over time, especially during the early laying period. Labour and other possible expenses are also excluded. Actual results may be lower. Your location, feed prices, egg prices and management will affect your results. 👇 LET’S DISCUSS! 1️⃣ Would you invest ₦1.3 million in 100 layers? 2️⃣ What is the price of a crate of eggs in your location? 3️⃣ Would you sell your layers after 18 months or keep them longer? Share your experience! #AdebayoFarm #PoultryFarming #LayerFarming #PoultryBusiness #Agribusiness by @adebayofarms
🔥🐔 POULTRY FARMERS, LET’S TALK ABOUT DEBEAKING! WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO DEBEAK YOUR BIRDS: WHEN THEY ARE CHICKS OR WHEN THEY ARE OLDER? 🤔 I want to hear from experienced poultry farmers on this one! Debeaking, also called beak trimming, is a management practice used in some poultry systems to help reduce feather pecking, injuries and cannibalism. But the timing and method matter. Poorly performed beak trimming can cause pain, stress and feeding difficulties, so it should never be treated as a casual procedure. Some farmers prefer to trim the beaks when the birds are still young, while others have experience trimming them at a later age when necessary. There are also different methods and equipment used, including manual scissors and specialized electric or hot-blade beak-trimming equipment. But which approach works best under proper management, and what has your experience taught you? Let’s learn from one another! 👇 Which method do you use: manual scissors or specialized electric/hot-blade equipment? 💡 IMPORTANT: There is no single recommendation that fits every flock. The appropriate timing and method depend on the birds, production system, local regulations and professional guidance. Beak trimming should be performed only when justified, using appropriate equipment and trained personnel. 👇 EXPERIENCED FARMERS, LET’S HEAR YOUR OPINIONS! Please share your actual experience, not just what you have heard. Your contribution could help another farmer avoid costly mistakes. #AdebayoFarm #PoultryFarming #Debeaking #BeakTrimming #LayerFarming PoultryManagement PoultryFarmers PoultryEducation NigerianFarmers Agribusiness by @adebayofarms
