I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to the incredible person who made Fia’s journey possible. The biggest thank you goes to Petra Gisske and her amazing animal foundation in Mauritius.

I found Fia on the streets of Mauritius with a huge tumor and barely hanging on. I took her in and got her the treatment she needed, but there were so many obstacles along the way. One of the biggest ones was simply not having a place where we could stay together. At one point, I didn’t even know where I was going to be living, and that’s when Petra stepped in.

She welcomed me like family, gave me a place to stay, and took Fia into her beautiful clinic and shelter. When I had to leave Mauritius, Petra continued taking care of Fia for several months. She fed her, looked after her every single day, took care of her when her wound got infected, made sure she got everything she needed, and loved her as if she were her own while I was already abroad.

Petra has been living in Mauritius for over 20 years and has dedicated her life to rescuing and helping animals. She founded the Petra Animal Foundation Mauritius and has saved countless dogs and other animals over the years. She is genuinely one of the kindest, most selfless people I have ever met, and I will never be able to thank her enough for everything she has done for both me and Fia.

If you’re ever in Mauritius, please check out her foundation, whether it’s by supporting her work, volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word. She also owns Sunshine Paradise Villas, beautiful apartments in one of the most stunning parts of the island. So if you’re looking for an amazing place to stay while supporting someone who has dedicated her life to helping animals, I couldn’t recommend it more.

Thank you for everything, Petra. I’m forever grateful. ❤️ by @adelaforanimals

⚠️ URGENT – LOOKING FOR A HOME FOR THESE TWO GIRLS ⚠️

Please, if you are in Mauritius or know someone who could adopt or foster them, reach out or share this post. They urgently need a safe place to go. Their current foster cannot keep them much longer, and without a solution soon they may end up back on the streets - something they absolutely do not deserve after everything they’ve been through. These two are incredibly sweet, loving girls who just want a home and someone to care for them.

This situation is also a painful reminder that you cannot trust everyone who promises to help. Someone promised these girls a home, reassured us multiple times, and then simply stopped responding. I honestly have no kind words or any kind of respect for people who make promises about living beings and then walk away from them.

Please be careful who you trust when it comes to animals - their lives depend on it.🙏🏻
