"I love America more than any other country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually." James Baldwin

I love America. I love her so much, I want her to be what what she says she is.

*TW Fake 🩸 next slides* I had so much fun for this month's #SwampcoreManiCollab, My Swampy Shadow! I chose a swamp witch with an interesting appetite. I love doing character makeup, and now I can add character nails to that list. I am not looking forward to removing all the "dirt" I painted on the underside of my nails, but sacrifices had to be made (like the lighting in order to get it done on time, and filing too short of nails into points).

Swipe to see the fun creations from the other participants, and follow #SwampcoreSwampyShadow for more!

An homage to beautiful Minnesota. One of my parents grew up in Minnesota, and I lived most of my formative childhood and teenage years there. It is a beautiful state with beautiful, kind, vibrant people and communities. As I've been reflecting on what's been happening, I remembered a project we did in school, where we learned Minnesota's history. Part of the series of lessons was drawing state symbols. I did the same for these nails.

Thumb: Minnesota's state bird, the loon. One of the symbols I chose for my project.

Pointer: Minnesota's state tree, the Norway/red pine.

Middle: Minnesota's state flower, the pink lady slipper. Another I chose for my project.

Ring: Minnesota's state bee, the rusty patched bumblebee.

Pinky: Minnesota's state grain, wild rice. I chose to do the plant this time, rather than the bowl of wild rice I did in my youth.

The song choice is from Trampled by Turtles, a folk/bluegrass band based out of Duluth, Minnesota.

I chose one of the robes Ra wore in Stargate as my inspiration for this month's #FoundPatternsCollab. I need to watch the movie again and do a deep dive on the costumes, because I did not appreciate how beautiful they were as a child. I read the "embroidery" is puff paint, which is so quintessential 90s. Swipe to see the inspo, the other participants and check out #FoundPatternsSciFiFantasy to show them some love!

☣️ This month's #TopOfTheMonthCollab theme was Solar or Thermal. I actually don't own any thermals, since they die, but I did buy the oops batch of @beeskneeslacquer I Really Liked Pudding solar. I liked the green so much, I'm glad they sold the non transitioning shade. Anyway, I topped it with @tylerstrinketsny There's a Little Witch In All Of Us for a perfect Halloween look.

This month's #CoreNailCollective theme was #MedievalTapestryCoreNails, and I based mine on Lady Holding a Falcon, which is a 1400s tapestry from the 1400s. I really liked the colors, and wanted to see if I could mimic some of the fading, discoloration, and variations in remaining pigment. It makes you wonder how vivid the original must have been when it was first made.

Swipe to see the inspo pics, they were taken from The Met Museum's site. (It said public domain, don't come for me, Met) Keep swiping to see the other participants and check out the hashtags to show them some love!
