It was an honor to support the 2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor, a commemorative aerial artwork created for the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The project uses 2,977 individual lights to recreate the Twin Towers above New York Harbor, with each light representing one of the lives lost in 2001.

The lights move through a choreographed aerial sequence before forming the outlines of the Twin Towers. The project was developed in collaboration with artists, producers, 9/11 families, survivors and responders. Creative direction is by @addisonmehr, production by @skyelementsdrones, design by @yanpauldubbelman, with artistic advice from @studio.drift, @shigeruban and Dean Maltz.

The artwork is accompanied by recorded music by Philip Glass, John Adams and @maxrichtermusic. Light, sound and movement come together in a temporary memorial that brings the form of the Twin Towers back into the New York skyline for a brief moment. taken in New York, New York by @adewitt

Not every important moment makes it into a press release.

Some happen at openings. Some happen over dinner. Some happen by chance. A collection of people, places, and projects that make this community so special, and remind us why we love being part of it.

Selected moments from the camera roll of James Black founder and partner Anthony DeWitt.

Was our uber late, or was our candid shoot on time? You decide

My 48 hours in Milan have been absolutely incredible. @adewitt and I have been busy running around the cities many events for Milan’s art and design week and enjoying the sights and adventures along the way.

All my work as a New York City event photographer has come in handy this week and I’m so glad for the time and energy I invested in those projects to get me here.

A cheeky portrait session and few moments capturing Milan street photography have made this trip more then I could have already dreamed of.

Get ready for my Milan content for the next week!

1 mana for your next Milan espresso 🧙‍♀️

Next week, James Black heads to Milan, and we’re bringing the full picture. From a rare mid-century photography survey to a boutique hotel opening in Brera, a late-night dance party, a sculptural wedding ceremony in an abandoned chapel, and a watchmaker’s meditation on time, here is what we’ll be celebrating during Salone del Mobile. taken in Milan, Italy by @adewitt
