Day 7 of #ADHDAwarenessMonth and today we share some research about a much talked about topic – the link between digital media and ADHD. As with many factors linked to ADHD, there is no clear-cut relationship here – use of screen technologies does not cause ADHD but there are associations. These might be direct associations or via displacement of other activities.

For Day 6 of #ADHDAwarenessMonth we are sharing some research findings related to ADHD and occupational functioning.

At present there is more research focusing on difficulties in the work place rather than strengths but this is changing. by @adhdresearchlab

Exploring the Feasibility and Acceptability of Extended Virtual Reality (VR) Exergame Use in Adults with ADHD:

Virtual reality (VR) exergames combine physical exercise with interactive gaming. This project explores whether adults with ADHD find VR exergaming enjoyable, comfortable, and practical to engage with repeatedly over two weeks. Participants will attend six sessions, choosing from selected VR exergames and adjusting the exercise intensity to their preferences. Questionnaires and a final interview will explore their experiences, enjoyment, and any difficulties with participation. Findings will help inform the design of a future larger study.
We are seeking adults aged 18 years or older with an ADHD diagnosis to take part in this study at King’s College London, Guy’s Campus (London Bridge).
To take part, you must:
•	Be aged 18 or older and physically fit to exercise.
•	Have an ADHD diagnosis from a healthcare professional and be able to provide evidence of this.
•	Have no history of epilepsy or sensitivity to flashing lights.
Step 1: Complete an online screening survey by using the QR code
Step 2 (if eligible): Attend six VR exercise sessions over two weeks- three sessions per week. Each exercise session lasts approximately 30-40 minutes, including at least 20 minutes of active exercise and short questionnaires after, with breaks available. The first and final visits also include questionnaires, and the final visit includes a short interview about your experiences.
Step 3: Complete an online follow-up questionnaire two weeks after your final visit.

Please note we are unable to pay travel costs so this would suit someone who is London based e.g. students at KCL. by @adhdresearchlab

Its Day 4 of #ADHDAwarenessMonth and today we turn our attention to procastination. You may be aware that some universities have removed automatic extensions for students with ADHD. Whilst this has created some upset, there is actually no evidence extensions were helpful anyway. by @adhdresearchlab

Its Day 3 of #ADHDAwarenessmonth and today we look at what a diagnosis should look like. A study by Adamou et al., looked at creating a consensus by experts on what factors were important and you can see six key aspects on the post. There are lengthy waits for assessment of ADHD but that does not mean it is helpful to cut corners so these steps should always be followed irrespective of the provider. by @adhdresearchlab

Day 2 of #ADHDAwarenessMonth for 2026 and we are sharing a brief history of the condition today.

There is a lot of coverage of ADHD at present but it has not just appeared. Awareness has undoubtedly increased but there has been some recording of what we now know to be ADHD since 1763. by @adhdresearchlab

It is #ADHDAwarenessMonth and we are back to sharing a daily post about ADHD. As we are a research lab much of the material we post is based on research related to ADHD but here we start with the basics of what is required for a diagnosis of ADHD. Note that whenever you see an offer to complete a five minute test to see if you have ADHD (normally on platforms like this) - this is NOT a validated diagnostic test - it is clickbait. Everyone will display the traits associated with ADHD to some degree. It the extent and the impairment that they cause (as well as having a childhood onset) that can make these traits result in a diagnosis. by @adhdresearchlab
