The remaining piece of the puzzle

Finally, it’s hello from your residents. It’s such a joy to organise music events and bring together so many fantastic creatives and artists under one roof.

The music makers, the music players, the technicians, the staff, the punters… we could go on and on… together we co-create our space for movement and connection. These gatherings, these rituals are important and persist because of there truly emergent qualities (constituent elements brought together go beyond each individuals capability).

That being said, it takes a lot of individuals, with their own passion and dedication to their craft, to bring an event into being. A celebration of each other’s talents and interests.

Shoutout to all the events and spaces that are put on by the community, for the community. We appreciate you ‼️

Grateful for all those involved tomorrow, can’t wait to share this day & night with you.

A home away from home

Welcoming back @haunteddancehall who will grace the space with records aplenty @honeystreet.studio’s

Sitting alongside @grub.records, who are jumping across the Peak District, this will be a merger of the historical cotton and steel cities record offerings.

Popping up here instead of their physical and spiritual home @wellingtonstudiosmcr, Haunted continue to offer an expanding array of in-store sessions, with the continued rise of Positive Harmony their downtempo event series, and always have an inspiring assortment of new and old records on the shelves. @haunteddancehall is a staple of the Manchester music scene.

They have given us a taste of some current tunes that they’ve been digging, selections that are both minimal tinged to spark your curiosity for other delights waiting to be discovered tomorrow 📡

Introducing @ufoutlaw who will be performing a live, purpose-built ambient set alongside the record fair.

Ultrasonic Future Outlaw is an electronic artist, composer, and filmmaker working in ambient, dub techno, and the fog between them—three EPs, a 2xCD LP, and a documentary film.
Rooted in ambient drift and the weight of dub techno, UFO brings a live ambient dub set to Manchester on 22nd August, built for the room.
The set takes its shape from David Toop’s @moreskinsound Ocean of Sound. That book led to Ocean of Ambience: A Journey Through the Ocean of Sound, a documentary researched, written, and scored by UFO.
UFO works where ambient meets sound system culture. The dub techno side surfaced most recently on the 2xCD Slow Release LP. Usually, there’s a kick and a sub-bass groove holding it together. Not here. Built to sit alongside the event’s pop-up record shop, this set is strictly beatless, moved entirely by implied grooves.
Played mostly in the box, anchored by a Space Echo under the hands. Stretched, layered material pulled from the documentary score and the dub techno releases, woven with live generative sound and dub-delayed until it dissolves. A dive into the ocean of ambience. by @adhesive_audio

Introducing the first of two stellar shops that will be providing a trove of records for your daytime digging, Grub Records.

Operating out of Sheffield, Grub is a community hub specialising in natural wines and dance music. Their diverse and exciting offering of records come from some of Europe’s best distributors; from the likes of One Eye Witness and KMASIXTY to Sound Metaphors and Subwax. Whether it’s staple house reissues, electro, techno, trance or acid laced experimental cuts, Grub has you covered on all fronts.

Grub will also be offering a range of their organic wines to fuel our summer soirée, which will be available from the bar throughout the day.

This is also a reminder that our record fair and day party will be FREE, to provide you with provide a taste of what Grub’s shop is all about. We’re extremely excited to be bringing them from outside of the city and if you’ve been wanting a trip out to visit them, now’s your opportunity to get involved!

Guiding us through the afternoon will be [a]mbient[+] @_.a.mbient.plus._ co founder and resident, @gio__rja, whose sound encompasses meditative states within music.

Giorja has contributed to numerous ambient leaning podcast series and radio shows, where she beautifully displays her fascination for the fourth world sounds and expresses what ‘Ambient music’ can embody in a broader sense, using modular and drone heavy productions to explore the capacities of the genre.

Within her sets, the London based DJ patiently uses ethereal sounds to articulate the need for dream like escapes from the outside world, with gentle elements meeting like interlocking hands. And in the same journey, lines become blurred through echos, hums and crackles sparingly placed, diving into the darker corners of where ambient music can lead the mind.

If you know, you know 🫵

We are delighted to welcome @sookie.sarah (she/ her) for her UK debut. Having graced the booth at peak European events such as @horstartsandmusic club Sookie is known for deep, emotional and unpredictable sets, crafting long progressions as well as shifting energy and trajectory with ease.

As a Brussels based DJ @sookie.sarah is part of a high calibre Belgian scene and a rich digger culture. Bringing Sookie’s carefully crafted deep and explorative sound, complements our stellar @honeystreet.studio programme.

With our collaboration with the Brussels based @bapow_ [Bxl] on the artwork, it felt natural to bring one the cities esteemed selectors to Manchester and continue our close connection with the continent in both sound and ethos.

Checkout @sookie.sarah’s sets from @kiosk.radio, @gimic.radio, Horst club and beyond to get a flavour of her idiosyncratic style in both sound and rhythm.

Roll up, roll up, Eden Burns bringing his squiggly, oddball house music to the floor!

Based out of New Zealand, Eden’s colourful productions hit a sweet spot between wide-eyed weirdness and club-ready maximalism, maintaining non stop fun and inexorable grooves and rhythms throughout. Munich’s Public Possesion has become a happy host to Edens relentless and diverse productions, where his ‘Big Beat Manifesto’ series has become a staple of the label, offering an insight into his early connections with dance music.

Burns’ DJ sets follow the same ethos, where Eden weaves sets that are unpredictable in the best way, interspersing phases of driving momentum with joyful curveballs and blissful reveries.

With Eden travelling over 12,000 miles from his headquarters, this is an opportunity that doesn’t present itself often. Come and immerse yourself in the weird and wonderful on the 22nd August!

Welcoming to the stage our trusted record-shop sellers who, alongside the residents, will complete our lineup celebrating all things wax on #recordshopday at @honeystreet.studio.

Firstly Etienne Groh (@haunteddancehall) the mastermind behind the stacked shelves of the Brunswick Mill shop alongside the effervescent @claren.dispute.

Etienne has specialised in electronic music, he caters to many palettes whilst finding threads of sonic overlap whilst being as eclectic as possible. His deep knowledge of records, producers and the scene is well known and is clear from the long line of regulars eager to dig through his latest batch of new releases or delve into his ever growing list of second hands. With many feathers in his hat he is behind labels @af1268_records, @dispute.records and Haunted Dancefloor as well as downtempo party series Positive Harmony with @claren.dispute and @nikol__music.

We also welcome @jovak___ and @birrell___, the front-runners of @___scuttle and @__headspin with an intricate musical knowledge. Both are well respected for their bottomless collection of rare digs across the deep and dark - from twisted minimal to psychedelic prog.

Not just talented selectors, both Jovak and Birrell are skilled producers, with refined productions out on esteemed labels 199 and Real Interactions. Expect a few unreleased numbers peppered through their sets for good measure.

To complete the bill the residents will be dotted across this stellar lineup. We are super excited add our bags to the pot for no doubt an unmissable event. We are so excited about this weekend and we can’t wait to see you all there.

Introducing @nushee.n who will add her rich fusion of sound waves to the @honeystreet.studio day and night affair.

Fresh off the back of supporting @lordoftheisles
for @timescape.gla’s birthday event in her current home of Glasgow. Nusheen brings unlikely fusions of gritty house, wigged-out lofi steppers and oddball dubwise gems.

Her sets can often be described as sonic collages, using elements such as echos of the middle east, rnb acapellas, or her own production tools to create a distinctive sound.

In the past she’s supported acts such as Pessimist, Ben UFO, Lyster and DJ Sundae. Checkout her @crop.radio and @kula.tv sets to delve further into @nushee.n’s broad palette.

Headlining the day event with his curious and expansive selections is @fkaboursin

FKA is a DJ and producer out of Bristol, with releases on @accidentalmeetings and more recently @scissorandthread label in Brooklyn, New York. He is interested in a deep, ambient-infused house music that explores the political demotions of clubs and identity politics.

Combining an array of digital sound with diverse samples from the real world and beyond, FKA threads a deep groove for moments of introspection, connection and movement.

To delve into @fkaboursin’s sound listen to his expansive festival sets from renowned UK staples like @thethreewheeldrive and @headroom.dance, respectively.

We can’t wait for FKA to steer @honeystreet.studio through #recordshopday
