Study 6: Trench Coat // Translucency.

This concludes the Trench Coat series. I had a lot of fun experimenting with a variety of media and techniques; Clearly, there is still a lot to learn and to be conscious of during the process.

Study 5: Trench Coat // Experimenting with Media.

In these Drawings I was attempting to explore techniques that I generally avoid or have a limited knowledge on. I find that Stippling and Coffee/Water Colour both requires a lot of patience. My rushing can be seen where the ‘points’ begin to travel, or where the wash becomes ‘patchy’.

Study 4: Trench Coat // Translation of Form.

Though quite rushed, these two drawings were attempting to explore tonal variety, with minimal range. I find that Toned paper is very forgiving and allows you to fundamentally orient your focus- towards the implications of ‘Light’.

Study 3: Trench Coat // Texture.

These Graphite Sketches were particularly rustic and somewhat experimental. There are a couple mistakes here and there, but overall I was trying to control the amount of pressure applied to the Graphite.

Study 2: Trench Coat // Torsion.

Apologies for the harshness in the scanning glare. I tend to press quite hard on my pencils, and perhaps it’s time to experiment with a greater range of Lead Grades.
