Our days will never be the same without you,
Basil. 🌿 🐾

You were the best dog and everyone who knew you loved you, too. You loved to walk the neighborhood, and I’ve learned not to worry because it’s what you loved and did for so many years. I will miss those calls and texts telling me you were out enjoying a walk, and asking if I knew. 🫣

Every time my ring camera goes off, I will think it’s you returning from your walk. 🐕‍🦺
We will think about you around every campfire, on every camping trip, and every time I take a walk on our route.

You were gentle and loving. You accepted cats into our home and chickens in the backyard. They were your friends. You never barked or begged, but you never turned down a slice of salami - my favorite too. You loved your sunny spots in the bedrooms and kitchen, and sneaking down to finish the cats’ food.
I know they’ll miss you too.

The kids don’t know life without her, but we have the best memories with her. The best being the day we woke up to 10 puppies. She hid one in a box of clothes and one in a boot! Those were some if the most chaotic days of my life, but also the most fun because the kids loved having 11 dogs to love. Basil took care of those puppies and then almost died from a terrible case of mastitis which turned into a huge open wound. Affordable vet care in finleyville saved her life, and today they helped her go in peace.

I dreaded the day we’d lose her, and it was the hardest decision to let her go. I’m thankful we were all able to be there with her. She did not live in pain, but old age complications were worsening.
We will forever miss the sound of her walking around the house, standing or lying under our feet in the kitchen, or waiting for us at the bedside in the morning.

Thank you Basil for the best 12.5 years, and for the joy you brought to us. We have peace knowing you had a long, lovely life. ❤️

We love Lake Michigan!
Indiana Dunes state park did not disappoint, even though the water was too rough to swim. We climbed Devil’s slide and 1 of the 3 dunes (they backed out) of the #3duneschallenge

To say I am proud of you is an understatement. You disconnected from your busy schedule and your phone, and gave yourself time to connect and grow with the Lord, all while making new friends and unforgettable memories. I know you can’t wait to go back and take your brothers with you next year. 💛

The next time I put scrubs on and walk into Jefferson, I’ll be walking in as an RN.
Last week, I worked my last PCT shift, and I’m so grateful for the time I worked as a PCT on 5N and the other floors I was pulled to. I worked alongside some of the best nurses and PCTs, and while they didn’t know it, they inspired me in so many ways. I grew as a person, caregiver, and healthcare professional. This experience will help me grow as a nurse, as I can’t wait to take my skills and smile to the PACU. I think every healthcare professional should work in direct patient care prior to holding a professional license, as attending to the basic and most simple needs of a person is just as important as their medical care.
Providing safe care to patients, listening to their concerns and stories, and helping them in the most vulnerable times is so rewarding and every patient I have had the privilege to care for has taught me something I’ll carry forward to the next chapter of my career.
