Hear the trumpets the drums, the mic crackling, a test, a voice that says "the luckiest girl" followed by my name, blissful silence in a moment frozen in time,, and the faces of my loved ones, the ones that came before, the ones that were and the ones that will. 2929

We carry it all like tiny stones
The ones we carefully picked and kept apart, no bucket, no t-shirt
Just our hands joined together, "oh" shaped
You may as well be carrying my heart and all my lil precious trinkets, the collection of a lifetime
Some days I carry you and we're on a steep hill going up but most days you carry me and I am aware of my weight but you don't let any tiny rock fall out our hands, you know what it means

Some days I'm sure of how much I love you but you know that some days I am not sure whether blue is blue, I scratch my head in search for my dad's name
And before I flood my neighborhood with cries I remember,, and, can again
What felt like the longest bridge, in a car ride, holding my breath except then, I couldn't cheat. you? pinching my nose and releasing only at the end

February came to an end on the 28th, and by then every water puddle I walked in was heart shaped.

We warmly invite you to our group exhibition ❤️

In the BIMHUIS, where the past and present of jazz is celebrated, and the conversation about musical conventions and freedom is continuously taking place, alumni from the VAV department of Gerrit Rietveld Academie proudly engage in a dialogue by showcasing their work in the group exhibition A Voice Can Calm A Restless Heart.

In this exhibition, 10 artists give form to the themes of identity, belonging and connectedness, as well as loneliness and grief. They address these themes through drawing, painting, cinematic imagery, video, sculpture and other visual media.

Meet the artist! This is the final artist we will introduce voor The New Current 2025!

Through immersive environments and sound installations, Yael Schuster @adieuamour_investigates the thresholds between the human body, fantasy, and transformation. “What Memories Will This Moment Leave Me With” is a sound installation that delves into themes of grief, nostalgia, resilience and decay. For this work, Yael wanted to explore in sound and sight, the tension between temporal realms questioning which holds more weight and influence over our present selves. Her work tries to invite audiences into these in-between states, heightened sensory spaces where vulnerability, fantasy, and the surreal intersect.

What Memories Will This Moment Leave Me With is my last work done at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, this piece was sought together with my thesis : Grief soup, on loss, nostalgia, decay and grieving. The research on grief is an ongoing writing project that I hope to present somewhere in the future.
I will also publish the song amongst other ones on my band camp! Xxx by @adieuamour_
