first time trying oil paints, here are some thoughts:
i mixed most of the colors from the gamblin 1980 primaries i had, but realized pretty quickly that my paints weren’t cool-toned, which made it hard to capture the bright teal glow of the traffic lights.

it was also my first time painting a hazy, bokeh-style background, and it was definitely more challenging than i expected, especially since i didn’t use a reference for this painting. most of the piece was painted alla prima with a little linseed oil, though i struggled to keep colors from turning muddy when layering.

any tips for cleaner layers, underpaintings, smoother paint application, or keeping colors vibrant would be greatly appreciated! by @aditisartpage
