Some moments redefine your entire journey as a photographer. They call it the ghost of the mountains for a reason, and encountering the elusive Eurasian Lynx is the rarest of the rare. ✨
To say this is a rare sighting feels like an understatement. The Eurasian Lynx is a true master of stealth, a phantom that moves silently through the rugged terrain, almost entirely hidden from human eyes. For a wildlife photographer, crossing paths with one is the holy grail.
When this magnificent cat stepped out into the open, time completely stopped. It paused just long enough to lock eyes with the lens, its striking golden stare and signature ear tufts perfectly framed against the vibrant, lichen-covered rocks. Getting this composition just right—finding that perfect balance—is exactly the caliber of image you spend a lifetime chasing.
Capturing this required absolute silence and extreme distance to respect the animal’s space. Pushing the Canon R1 to its limits, paired with a 600mm and gave me the reach needed to bring this fleeting ghost into crystal-clear focus.
I’ve captured a lot of frames over the years, but this one will forever sit at the very top. A deeply humbling reminder of the magic that still exists out in the wild. 🏔️🐾

Welcome to Part 1 of my ultimate “Birds of West Bengal” series. Today, we are climbing high into the misty cloud forests of Darjeeling and the deep, untouched canopies of Latpanchar.

This geographical belt is a living treasure chest. Here, subtropical forests collide with eastern Himalayan altitudes. The result? A biodiversity hotspot where prehistoric giants share the trees with neon-colored jewels. From the iconic, vulnerable Rufous-necked Hornbill reigning over Latpanchar to the elusive, brilliant high-altitude beauties flitting through Darjeeling’s mossy tea-garden borders—this region is absolute magic for a wildlife photographer.

Satyr Tragopan is one of the most spectacular pheasants in the Himalayas and is often called the “Crimson Horned Pheasant” because of the male’s brilliant red-orange plumage and inflatable blue facial horns used during courtship displays. Leading a group in tawang arunachal pradesh

One of the best places to search for them is Tawang and high-altitude forests in Sikkim in India

Tibeten Sand Fox 🦊

Its square-shaped face is unique
Unlike most foxes with pointed faces, this fox has a boxy, almost rectangular head. This odd shape isn’t just for looks—it helps it scan the flat Tibetan plateau more effectively while hunting. Lives at extreme altitudes It survives in harsh environments of the Tibetan Plateau, often above 4,000 meters (13,000 ft). Few fox species can tolerate such low oxygen and freezing temperatures.
