Bre @brebreathing & Adj @adjua began their 9+ year relationship showing up for their community. This love story is so timely as we’re having a huge need for community in Chicago in lieu of the chaos by this administration.

These two were “care bears” for @byp100chi during an action then begin to notice each other’s energy. Adj shared during our interview how Bre’s intentionality in courting her really stood out. Not to mention, she wrote a love note to Adj to seal the deal. What I really love is as Bre described how they met and what attracted her is Adj is the little school girl giggles blushing after all these years. I vividly remember her saying “girl you’re making me blush over here”. 🥺😭

Coming from a family of lawyers, Adj wanted to share her adoration for her new partnership and she shared how her mom said “I just want you to have someone that champions you” and that’s Bre’s last name. So much of their story is kismet at work. To find someone that has the value in community and wanting to show up for revolutionary action as these two have us rare. I’m so proud to know them and be inspired by their love. by @adjua

Fifth couple of The LOVE Project: Bre & Adjua

Bre and Adj were a couple referred from another LOVE project participant (and now friend), Crislin. I remember seeing both their IG pages and thinking "ohh they're going to be my artsy couple". They have so much natural swag to them that I think came through so seamlessly in their shoot. Fast forward to being able to interview them, the moment we got into the zoom I felt so much love and passion between them which made me change them from my artsy couple to my "sensual couple". I was like my HEART IS ACHING. THIS IS A ROMCOM! 😂

They met while planning a social justice gathering in Chicago. Aside from the immediate connection, Adj named Bre's intentionality being a defining factor in what made her locked in. There's a coolness about Bre, a Capricorn with a Pisces placement, that just makes you feel so at home. The way that Adj blushed when Bre would describe her feelings during their courtship was frankly really fucking cute. Adj, a Scorpio with a firey, fun personality immediately felt like a homegirl from another lifetime. Together they both felt so grounded in their conviction to each other in their marriage.

Now, with them being good friends of mine seeing their love up close is inspiring. They have 9+ years under their belt and one of my favorite things about these two is the balance they provide to each other. Adj is always making Bre laugh wit her quick wit and Bre is always that fall breeze type of energy that bring Adj ease. (Bre also gives the best hugs I've ever experienced!) So, it's only right I release their story on what feels like a beautiful Autumn day. 🤎 by @adjua

we 5 years old baby!!!! 😭

these years with you have changed my life. from the smallest daily habits (more salad, more breathing) to whole life philosophies, like assuming best intention. you have completely changed my LIFE, breanna. your love is transformative.

this 5th year really got our families blending in a way we literally prayed for 🥲

i am soo proud of us and the life we are building. i’ve never felt more sure of anything ive done than loving you. i know our ancestors brought us together and i wish this knowing, this blessing on everyone.

i am also eternally grateful for getting to know and love on both of my grandmothers. happy mother’s day granny and grandma!!
