UPDATE FROM SEPANG ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Update from the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, where a challenging build-up turned into a promising qualifying session for Nico Hulkenberg and the Audi Revolut F1 Team.

Nico had the pace and looked set to put together a strong lap in the closing stages of Q1. Unfortunately, a lock-up on his final and decisive attempt cost valuable time, meaning the German missed out on Q2 and had to settle for P17.

โ€œIt was a disappointing end to qualifying because the lap was coming together well until the lock-up in the final sector. The margins are so tight these days that you need to get every corner right, and unfortunately that cost us a significant amount of lap time,โ€ said Nico Hulkenberg.

Thanks to penalties for other competitors, the German Admin By Request ambassador will move up two positions and start from P15 when the lights go out at Sepang.

โ€œTomorrow will be a demanding race with high tyre degradation, and the weather could add another element. Starting further back is never ideal, but there are plenty of variables here, so we'll give it our best shot and try to make our way forward,โ€ the German added.

Sundayโ€™s Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit gets underway at 15:00 local time (GMT +8).

HELLO, MALAYSIA ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‘‹

Formula 1 returns to Sepang International Circuit for the first time in almost a decade this weekend, as Nico Hulkenberg and the rest of the Audi Revolut F1 Team head to Malaysia for the Bahrain Grand Prix!

Relocated to Malaysia due to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the Bahrain Grand Prix marks the second leg of the Asian triple-header โ€“ and the return to Sepang brings back a classic Formula 1 venue known for its technical layout, changing weather conditions and intense heat and humidity.

โ€œIt's cool to head back to Sepang this year. This circuit has been around for a long time and itโ€™s one we haven't raced at for a while. It's not a track that relies on big headline corners, but there are a few sections that are quite technical and reward getting the details right. Add the heat and the humidity, and it always creates an interesting challenge,โ€ said Nico Hulkenberg.

After introducing a new package in Baku last weekend, the focus for Nico and the team will be on continuing to fine-tune the upgrades and extracting maximum performance from the R26 around the Malaysian circuit.

โ€œWe learned a few useful things with the new package in Baku, and now it's about building on that and extracting more from it.โ€

Qualifying gets underway at 16:00 local time (GMT +8) on Saturday, while the lights go out for the 56-lap Bahrain Grand Prix at 15:00 on Sunday.

QUICK FACTS โžก๏ธ SEPANG โคต๏ธ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Constructed between 1997 and 1999, Sepang International Circuit was one of the first complete track designs by renowned circuit designer Hermann Tilke โ€“ who later created Formula 1 venues including Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Austin.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ The 2001 race was hit by a huge rainstorm, creating a chaotic Grand Prix that saw Jos Verstappen โ€“ father of four-time world champion Max Verstappen โ€“ briefly lead before Ferrari eventually secured a 1-2 finish.

๐Ÿ† With seven victories between 1999 and 2015, Scuderia Ferrari is the most successful Formula 1 team at Sepang.

โ€œA finish we couldn't have hoped forโ€

Fantaaaaastic news from Fuji Speedway, where our brand ambassador Kevin Magnussen celebrated his third FIA World Endurance Championship podium of the season today ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ† ๐Ÿคฉ

Together with BMW M Team WRT teammates Dries Vanthoor and Raffaele Marciello, the Danish BMW factory driver secured third place in the 6 Hours of Fuji after a race where smart strategy and excellent teamwork in the pit lane made all the difference

โ€œIt was a really strong result for us and a finish we couldnโ€™t have hoped for. We realised early on that we didnโ€™t have the pace to fight our way into the podium positions, but thanks to a good strategy and, not least, some fantastic work from the team during our pit stops, we managed to get there anyway,โ€ said Kevin Magnussen.

The result came after a challenging weekend for the BMW trio, who struggled for pace and had to start from P14 after qualifying was cancelled due to poor weather. However, they fought their way into the top 10 before making the decisive move during the final pit stop. Pitting from P8 under the Safety Car, the team executed perfectly and sent the car back out in third place!

โ€œAn incredible performance by the entire team and a result everyone should be proud of,โ€ Magnussen added.

The podium in Japan moves Kevin up to fourth in the Driversโ€™ World Championship standings โ€“ and with two rounds remaining, the title fight is still very much alive ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ”ฅ

Next stop: Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 18 October ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

โ€œSo disappointing to miss outโ€

Recap from a challenging Formula 1 weekend in the streets of Baku for Nico Hulkenberg and the rest of the Audi Revolut F1 Team. A clear lack of straight-line speed made both overtaking and defending difficult on the high-speed street circuit, which features a main straight of more than two kilometres.

Nevertheless, Nico kept his cool through an action-packed race with several Safety Car periods and fought his way from P18. Points were within reach as the German race ace held P10 in the closing stages โ€“ but an overtake in the final minutes ultimately dropped him out of the points.

โ€œPoints looked in reach for a bit, so itโ€™s disappointing to miss out. I was running in P10 towards the end, but the cars ahead started battling, which cost us some time and allowed Carlos (Sainz, red.) to get into my tow. There wasnโ€™t much I could do to hold him back. Thatโ€™s been a bit the story of our weekend,โ€ said Nico Hulkenberg after the race.

โ€œWe take it on the chin and move on. We have a few days now to go through the data, understand the package better and see what we can get out of it next weekend.โ€

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was the first part of a triple-header that continues in Malaysia next weekend before moving on to Singapore ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ โฉ๏ธ ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

READY, SET, BAKU ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ’ช

Update from Friday in Baku, where qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix didnโ€™t quite go Nico Hulkenberg's way. A difficult Q1 meant the Audi Revolut F1 Team driver missed out on Q2 and will start Saturdayโ€™s race from P18. Nevertheless, thereโ€™s still reason for optimism ahead of more than 300 kilometres of racing on the streets of Baku โ€“ a circuit where opportunities can quickly arise.

โ€œTodayโ€™s result is obviously disappointing, as I feel we were more competitive than the final classification suggests. On the first run, we missed the tow, which makes a big difference around here. Then, on my final lap, I was caught by a yellow flag at Turn 15 and again had no tow down the long straight,โ€ Nico Hulkenberg said.

โ€œWe were also lacking some straight-line speed, which makes things particularly difficult at this circuit. There is naturally still more for us to learn about the upgrades as we work to understand and optimise the package. Starting from the back is never easy, but this is Baku and opportunities can arise, so we need to stay sharp and be ready to take them.โ€

Letโ€™s hit those streets! Weโ€™re ready for some classic Baku action when the lights go out tomorrow at 15:00 local time (GMT+4) ๐Ÿ

BACK IN THE STREETS ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ”ฅ

After an encouraging weekend in Madrid, where Nico Hulkenberg secured his third points-scoring finish of the 2026 Formula 1 season, the German race ace and Admin By Request ambassador is ready to take on the notorious streets of Baku!

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix marks the start of an intense Asian triple-header, with Malaysia and Singapore following over the next two weekends โ€“ and with its combination of high speeds, heavy braking zones and unforgiving walls, Baku is known for producing plenty of drama.

โ€œWe've been consistently fighting around the points over the last few weekends, and that's where we want to stay. Baku is one of those circuits where things can change quickly, so if we put everything together and have a clean weekend, there should be opportunities. What we can expect is for the battle around our positions to be quite close, as in the previous rounds, so we will need to execute well,โ€ said Nico Hulkenberg.

This weekend also runs to an unusual schedule, with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix taking place on Saturday. That means preparations are already underway, with the first two practice sessions completed on Thursday.

โ€œOverall, it was a reasonable day. The sessions were not entirely straightforward, with a few challenges to work through, but the underlying picture is encouraging,โ€ the German added.

Next up is FP3 followed by qualifying at 16:00 local time (GMT +4) on Friday, before the lights go out for the 51-lap Azerbaijan Grand Prix at 15:00 on Saturday.

QUICK FACTS โžก๏ธ BAKU โคต๏ธ

๐Ÿš€ At 2.2 kilometres, Baku features the longest flat-out section on the Formula 1 calendar โ€“ with the cars reaching huge speeds along the Caspian Sea waterfront.

๐Ÿฐ At the opposite extreme, the famous Old Town section around Turns 8 and 9 narrows to just 7.6 metres as the cars squeeze past Bakuโ€™s medieval city wallsโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ The 6.003 km Baku City Circuit first hosted Formula 1 in 2016 as the European Grand Prix, before becoming home to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix the following year.
