‼️ ✨🩵 If you like seahorses, click this post! 🩵✨‼️

For more than 15 months, we’ve documented over 100 different lives of wild Hippocampus reidi seahorses (The Longsnout Seahorse), contributing new observations to scientific research that can help shape their future protection.

Some have been part of our lives for over a year. Many we observed for more than 90 days, 120 days, and a good percentage for more than 180 days. Because of this, we learned a lot along the way, including many of the tips in this post.

They are more than just sightings. They are lives we have a responsibility to protect. We make this post because we genuinely care about what happens to them, but also because we have a current and active database that has gained some global recognition that can help shape the future protection of these beauties.

The science can inform their protection and present updated formal recommendations . But our actions today can help ensure there are still seahorses to study tomorrow.

If you find a seahorse, lead by example. We have so many incredibly talented photographers, guides, and instructors who genuinely care about the future of this place. 🩵🫂

Lembeh Strait. The world’s critter capital, by day and after dark.

Marelux and Atlantis Divers present a 10-day all-inclusive Macro & Blackwater Workshop led by Marelue Senior Ambassadors Ipah Uid Lynn and Rob Stansfield.

📅 April 17–27, 2027
📍 Lembeh Strait, Indonesia

By day: black sand muck diving with real coaching on macro lighting — snoot placement, backlighting, separating a hairy frogfish from the sand instead of blowing it out. 2:1 diver-to-guide ratio, nitrox, up to 3 tanks a day.

By night: 7 blackwater dives. Larval fish, paper nautilus, pelagic octopus, drifting up from a thousand meters.

Plus presentations, Lightroom sessions, 1:1 in-water training, and personalized image reviews with Ipah and Rob. Whether you shoot MX or not, you‘ll leave shooting better.
