“Our older kids meeting their internationally adopted sister for the first time after waiting 3.5 years.

3.5 years of talking about her. Praying for her. Asking when she was coming home. Wondering what she would be like. Saving a spot for her at the table, in the van, and in their hearts.

And then this moment.

We have been through the paperwork and the waiting and the heartbreak of delays and the moments where we were not sure it was ever going to happen. And then you land at an airport and your kids come running and suddenly every single hard moment was worth it.

Watch them dance with her.

That is not performance. That is 3.5 years of love finally having somewhere to go.

She had no idea what she was walking into. A family that had been waiting for her longer than she knew. A set of siblings who already loved her before they ever held her.

This is what saying yes looks like. Even when it takes 3.5 years. Even when it is hard. Even when you wonder if it will ever happen.

“10 years ago today, we walked into a New Orleans hospital to the most angelic woman who brought our daughter earthside.

I can replay every conversation, every laugh, every tear shed those next few days. Adoption is truly so sacred in these days! Lemmon is truly one of the most special children. She is funny like her birth mom, she has her laugh, her beautiful lips, her lashes for days, her kindness and always thinking of others! I truly couldn’t ask for a better daughter who is so much like her birth mom! 10 years of having the honor of being this beautiful angel’s mother 🥹💛”

I was born in Russia, and at one point, I was just a little girl waiting to find out what my life was going to look like. Then, thousands of kilometres away, there were two people who decided they wanted to make me part of their family.

And then came the moment we met for the very first time. ❤️

“9 years ago today we got the phone call that changed our lives forever. 💙

An incredibly unselfish mother chose us to raise her son as our own. 💙

Our three older children were part of the entire adoption journey and being able to share this news with them was so special. From tears of joy, to baby excitement that couldn’t be contained to our littlest just being pumped for cookie cake it’s a moment that we will always cherish 💙
