One year with only one set of paws.
It’s been a very strange year. Im grateful that Ralph is as healthy and happy as a 13 year old pup with CCD can be. He’s adjusted relatively well to being a solo act. by @adorabledori

Legacy Legends’ Dori Ori Corginstein. Dori. Doodlebug. Schmoo.

After a hard-fought battle with kidney failure, we said goodbye to the world’s sassiest lady baby at sunrise on Saturday. Dori had a personality far bigger than her tiny body. She was loud, sassy, opinionated, desperate for everyone’s attention, and an absolute riot. Her beauty captivated everyone she met, but her absurd antics made it impossible to not fall in love with her. Her personality was as big as her appetite, which would often land her at the emergency vet when she’d get into something she shouldn’t, like a double dark chocolate biscotti. I don’t think I’ve ever met another dog who was so food motivated. Dori would try to jump off of every tall surface she could with reckless abandon; I’m convinced even she didn’t realize how tiny a little lady she was. She was fearless. Dori had a glass paw which she broke three times because she was playing too hard, running too fast, and braking like an F1 driver rounding a corner at full tilt. She was a Hairy Houdini, sliding out of her hard casts, and spitting up pills she’d squirrel away in her cheeks. Dori would bark like a pez dispenser: throwing her head back dramatically. but Dori did everything with a flair for dramatics, so of course even her bark would be showy. She would only cuddle with me in protest for years because she was an independent lady who did what she wanted, but immediately fell in love with Andrew and force-snuggled him the first time she met him (I’m only playfully jealous of this). Eventually she warmed up to snuggling me voluntarily, and would force-cuddle so hard it felt like she was trying to burrow under me.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here with any pupdates. This one hurts.

Last year Dori was hospitalized for a week with stage 4 kidney failure. While she was able to bounce back from that to a point, we knew she would never make a full recovery and eventually would succumb to kidney failure. Today, we got the worst news from her vet: her kidney levels were not coming down, and her infections have become fully resistant to the antibiotics that have been keeping her alive and pain free. Dori is on palliative care now, and we know we don’t have long, maybe a few days? A week? Not enough time. Never enough time.

She’s home resting now, and mercifully Ralph isn’t tormenting her by barking in her face to play. In a weird way I’m grateful he has dementia and probably doesn’t fully grasp what’s happening with his sister. We’re doing everything we can to make her comfortable, and giving her all the garbage food she shouldn’t have eaten before. Andrew and I go back and forth between laughing at memories of her and sobbing into her fluff.

Saying goodbye to your heart dog fucking suck. by @adorabledori

Oh my its been a while since our last post 😬 Dori & Ralph are doing well, and have become more snuggly in their old age, both with eqch other and with Mom. Here we are spooning each other on top of mom’s legs (we’re three days into the new year, but this is for sure Top Five moments of 2023 material already)

This sweet little schmoo had a vet visit the other day. She's clearly miserable and hates the vet 🙄

I asked Ralphie to pose for @puppy_bean and her mum, and this is the fave he gave. Such a sad looking schmoo!

Dori diligently watching the #wkcdogshow tonight. She completely ignored the #cardiganwelshcorgi, and legit booped the tv when the #pembrokewelshcorgi was on. Silly schmoodle

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted on here! Our mum has been up to her eyeballs, and while she's been treating us well, she's been neglecting our IG. She'll do her best to remember to post more often
