When his eyes met mine, something within me shifted. For a fleeting moment, I felt closer to nature, closer to stillness, and somehow, closer to my own soul.

Photographed this beautiful Kingfisher from @machancountryvilla a few months ago. It’s always exciting to spot Kingfishers, as they indicate healthy waterways. Their presence reflects clean, thriving ecosystems, while their role as predators helps maintain balance in aquatic food webs. Protecting rivers, wetlands, and forests means protecting them too. 💚

Rewilding Triumphantly!
3 years and we have a beautiful thriving forest with us. Average growth rate is 13 feet among 1500 native saplings. 98% survival rate shows the magic of following the laws of nature. Wildlife is coming back and we are elated. The forests shall return! 🌳✊🏼

A ribbon of white glides through the forests of Bahundangi, carrying food to its hungry nestlings.

Every year, the Asian Paradise Flycatcher (locally known as Swargachari) journeys across borders and landscapes, arriving in Nepal’s forests to breed, raise its young, and prepare them for their first flight. Some populations travel from regions including India and Sri Lanka, making Nepal a seasonal home where the next generation begins its story.

This nest rests on a native Sirish tree. A tree that belongs here, just as this bird does. For countless birds, insects, and wildlife, native trees are not just plants; they are nurseries, shelters, dining tables, and lifelines.

As this devoted parent returns again and again with insects for its nestlings, it reminds us of a simple truth: when we protect native trees, we protect entire generations of life.

The future of Nepal’s wildlife will not be decided only inside protected areas. It will be decided in the trees we choose to plant, the forests we choose to keep, and the habitats we choose not to destroy.

Plant native. Protect native. Let the forests raise their young.

Building Dreams and Forests - Rewilding Madhesh!
11 Months, 1800 Trees, 23 Native Species and An Average Growth Rate Of 8 Feet. Rewilding Madhesh has been one of the most successful reforestation project in the last 7 years. The trees are growing in harmony, wildlife is coming back and it is already starting to give shade to the community. 💚

When we extract gravel, disturb riverbanks and destroy natural river habitats, we take away more than stones and sand, we take away the homes of species like the Great Thick-knee, pushing them closer to extinction. They are very pivotal for our ecosystem and their future depends on how we actively work for nature!

Photographed the beautiful Verditer Flycatcher in Nagarkot. They love staying high up on trees and take countless flights to catch flies and insects. They’re quite majestic.

For the edit, I added a bit of textile texture on the picture and it looked like a painting. I decided to keep the texture. :)

15 months into the journey, Rewilding Lalitpur is thriving with 99% survival rate across 120 trees representing 17 native species.

More than just a growing forest, this space is becoming a living native seed bank, preserving indigenous biodiversity and creating a thriving habitat for wildlife. With birds returning and bees buzzing among the trees, nature is gradually reclaiming its space.

Every native tree is a step towards a richer, healthier, and more biodiverse urban ecosystem.

While traveling with @jginepal to understand the human-elephant conflict in Bahundangi, I captured this photo of a wild elephant crossing the Nepal-India border. For the elephants, this is an ancient corridor and the concept of borders and countries don’t make sense to them. It’s shouldn’t as well. The majestic and magical elephants are sadly victims of geopolitics.

Spotted this beautiful Green Forest Lizard in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. As natural insect predators, they help regulate insect populations and contribute to the balance of the food web. Their presence also reflects the health and biodiversity of their habitat.
Protecting forests protect these beautiful reptiles! 💚

We exist because forests made Earth breathable long before humanity ever took its first breath. 🌳 by @adptrees
