Experimenting with lecturn-bound binding. This is a playing surface themed to Tides. I chose the colors to evoke the beach and cut up a hand towel to serve as a « beach towel » for the cards to lay on. The dark solid color of the towel makes it easier to see the cards. One downside is that this surface is too slanted to hold a draw pile but otherwise it works great. ˆ.ˆ by @adreanaline

I had a wonderful time at the @cdwc.cfsc conference in Winnipeg! Kudos to the organizers who spent three years working hard to make it happen. Another thank you to the people who took pics of my workshop because I forgot to ask someone to do them. If it was you, please message me!! Adrean stands next to a Deaf interpreter (Hodan Youssouf) in a hotel conference room. A slide appears on the wall in the far left corner of the image containing pictures of her zines. by @adreanaline

Explaining written ASL digits in depth - helping your eyes see them better. This is an experiment so feedback is welcome!

(NOTE: As I am speaking ASL in this video it is labelled ASLwrite but can apply to others such as BSLwrite, ISLwrite, LSQécrire, and so on.) by @adreanaline

(ASL) Nuance - and imperfection in explaining big ideas. In comedy there's a concept called "punching up" - meaning don't make jokes at the expense of those with less power and privilege than you. In application with this situation - criticizing English-inspired signs is punching up (resisting oppression) while criticizing ASL words inspired by other languages is punching down (reinforcing oppression).
ASL has an outsize impact beyond US borders so we ought be more conscientious about what we choose to focus on in trends, etc. This concept also applies to marginalized ASL communities INSIDE the US - white people criticizing a word that has common usage in a community of color has similar chilling effects, and so on. That is what I was addressing with specific examples. Nuance and context is important.
Hope this helps clarify my last video - it doesn't answer everything but adds more to the big picture. (P.S. I stuttered a few times bec LSQ kept coming through in my thought process - examples of language influence ha) by @adreanaline
