Last Saturday I was at the 80th birthday of my brother-in-law Graham Clarkson . Thanks for the invite sis Odilia Clarkson . It was a terrific party. And I believe it was a real surprice for your husband to see of us roll up. Well done!!! by @adrian.degraaf

Last night, 21 August 2026, fabulous concert conducted by West Australian Symphony Orchestra 's musical director Asher Fisch (who also is musical director of the Tiroler Festspiele in Erl, Austria) with a beautiful Tchaikovski Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, a fantastic Beethoven 7th Symphony, conducted from memory of course (hard work for the first fiddles: I remember my bowing arm nearly dropping off when I played it many decades ago). And in between those 2 works was a fantastic Prokofiev 1 Piano Concerto played by amazing pianist Konstantin Shamray; encore a waltz (I think) from a Prokofiev Cindarella suite. Thanks for talking with me and taking the photograph and signing my.program with the beautiful message, Konstantin. And Asher, your interpretations of both the Tchaikovski and Beethoven were fantastic. I am so honoured that you noticed me siting in a seat in the first row which I only managed to get over the last few days. And: I finally got an autograph from you: thank you!!! And well done, WASO!!! by @adrian.degraaf

Saturday 1 August:
Fremantle Chamber Orchestra conducted by Paul Wright, presents Albicastro’s Concerto a quattro & basso continuo in C, a lost Baroque jewel; this was a beautiful performance of a bautiful gem.

Haydn’s uplifting Symphony 94 “Surprise” was great.

And 16-year-old violinist Ellie Malonzo did a fantastic job with the Sibelius violin concerto. by @adrian.degraaf

Catching up on my concerts attendances.
31 July.2026:
Leevi Madetoja: Kullervo; I was happily surprised by this.
Pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska was fantastic with Elena Kats-Chernin: Piano Concerto No.3 (Lebewohl). Great concerto.
And Jean Sibelius: Symphony No.2 with Conductor: Kristian Sallinen; he was obviously in his Scandinavian element. It.was great to have a chat with you, Kristian. by @adrian.degraaf

Great Concert tonight with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra , conducted by another Dutch speaking conductor Anja Bihlmaier and fantastic violinist Benjamin Beilman . The Mendelssohn violin concerto was great and performed with technical virtuosity: the Shostakovich Symphony 5 was solid with fantastic orchestral solo bits, very powerful playing with many gentle moments. Thanks Alan Tyrrell and Evan Kennea for bringing the soloist up to the Gallery and taking pics. by @adrian.degraaf
