I had a great time performing at Soirée Eclectic for @vegascityopera. I performed an excerpt of the piece co-created with Deanna Fleysher @buttkapinski while at a residency at the @lookoutartsquarry. Buenos dias. It’s been a long time. Juan Chico 🤡 came out to crush some ICE 🧊 at the Art Yard Sale at @luluarthouse, organized by @leiluhart! ICE crushing tools used: la chancla, una bolsa, un palo, and good ole Vitamix for extra slushy crushed ICE. Juan Chico poured some limonada over the crushed ICE and donations for the limonada went to @fifthsunproject’s UndocuRelief Fund. Consider donating as well! They have many causes they are funding. I'm working on restarting my blog. I'm using it as a self-portrait series, a digital journal to be all touchy-feely nostalgic, maybe-cringey-for-some-but-I-don't-care-that's-about-you, sometimes to mark significant times of change, maybe as a fuck you, for self pep talks, and as a reminder of who I am. From the archives. 2021. Found object mask-making project. Hanging out in Inwood in upper Manhattan on the 4th of July. Pandemic shutdown still in its prime. Museums were slowly starting to open. You had to reserve a time slot at el Museo del Barrio, the Whitney and the Met. No theatres were back open yet. Crazy times still continue. by @adrianachavez888

Phenomenomaly is back this summer!!! The flickerwerms are migrating to Omega Mart four times a day, 5 days a week Wednesday through Sunday until August 9th. What a joy to get to co-direct and collaborate on scenes, AND get to perform with the band of Misfit clowns as “Plotzini,” or some days swing in as “George,” and sometimes play “Bernice,” the kooky Omega Mart employee. This cosmic flickerwerm event keeps my imagination on my toes! And working in an immersive environment keeps me present. What a privilege to work and play with such kind and talented performers, artists, and dancers. I’m so grateful to Kent Caldwell, Alexandra Renzo and Cerene Onsite for this opportunity. I love my cast and crew and admire the joy, dedication, and enthusiasm they bring every day. Getting to create and perform with them is so rewarding. Vida was with me for 45 days and I cherished every moment. It wasn’t easy but I learned so much, and the lessons will continue to unfold. That girl invigorated my life. I made the incredibly difficult and heartbreaking decision to hand off and re-home Vida to my dog trainer, Nick, and his wife Ashley from @content.k9s. I ugly cried for days, not gonna lie, but she is in EXCELLENT hands. It’s the best for everyone. She will have a job at the dog training facility, has two sibling dogs at home to learn from and play with daily, a one year old human brother to protect, and two dog trainers as parents. She is a high energy working breed so I can’t imagine a better situation for my spirited, beautiful girl. She’ll be going on trips with them soon, as well as hikes, and will be living her best life. She’s already so happy with them. Nick and Ashley decided to keep her name and I’m so happy about that. I get to be Vida’s auntie who adores her and can visit, walk, and watch her when I want. I love and miss my girl, and I will never forget how we found each other on that fateful morning in Chino, CA outside my mom’s front door 🥹🥹🥹. Thank you, Nick and Ashley for loving her so much! I do see a dog in my life in the near future. Thank you, Vida, for showing me that love and devotion. I restarted my blog on an old photography website that I began in 2013. I haven’t written since 2016, so I decided to today. It’s about my journey with Vida the dog. Link in bio if you wanna read. More from the vault. 2012. Class assignment in Darkroom Photography at SVA in NYC. “Blur” and “No Viewfinder.” And I was learning how to dodge and burn. Wow. Haven’t said those words in a while. Remembering parts of myself. In addition to the Dance Improvisation class I took in undergrad with Cyrus and Nancy, this was the most exciting and fulfilling class ever. by @adrianachavez888

Bringing my photography out of the vaults. I’ve never shown these. They were on a blog from my old photography website that no one ever looked at, nor did I publicize. It was a place to store my images -like a journal I guess. These are double exposures from 2014-2015. Some from when I worked in Japan in spring 2014. I recently told a friend that I think photography is the clearest I can see myself without anxiety and hyper-vigilance clouding my thinking and gripping my body. For me, there is stillness, intention, decisiveness and letting go. And fun! #elderemo by @adrianachavez888
