Growing up Catholic, I have always been taught to stray away from money, as there remained one true God. However, how am I to seek God, when my time is consumed by work rather than prayer?
Please God, make me rich.

“For we have fought a war all our lives that we did not sign up for. Where are our benefits? Where are our medals? Where is our reward? Instead we are forced to lead unstable lives, abandoning our necessities and our education, as there is a dire need to be with family. But, I look at my brother, and remind him to “sleep my love, nothing’s wrong.”

Crippling perfectionism & some old sketches <3

I’ve always struggled with stagnation because of the need to control every outcome; this is my protest

He was my Uber driver, I was running late to work and I struck up conversation with a stranger. I asked about his journey. And he asked about mine. When he asked how old I was, he told me I was lucky to be this young. Laughing, I was curious as to why he didn’t consider himself lucky with his own youth. He had gone to prison at 25, and come out when he was 30. Unethical ways of making money. He was worried about his family, peer pressured into his situation, and the peer pressure kept going after 5 years. “I’m trying to make a decent living,” he tells me. “One where I can keep my family safe. I want to move- live somewhere I can get a fresh start.”

To have the ethical value of oneself, the grit to turn your life around and make it right, after years of being surrounded by the unfamiliar. Some people have gone through so much, yet keep going. And In my moments of doubt, I will think of you. I will wish you and your family blessings. I will have hope. Thank you for talking to me, and telling me about your life. Thank you for allowing me to find a piece of myself through your story.

“I’m proud of you,” I tell him.
I was 10 minutes late to work.
