Had so much fun yesterday pacing the Cape Town Marathon! I was originally supposed to pace through 21km, but decided to help the field for another 4km and took it through 25km. After that, I wanted to test myself over the next 10km. I had an average time of 2:58 (4:46 per mile) per km for almost 36km after which i stopped.

It ended up being a really valuable experience and gave me a lot of insight into my future marathon potential.

I started feeling quite fatigued around 33–35km, but considering I haven’t actually trained specifically for the marathon yet, it reminded me that there’s still a lot more room to grow and places to go.

HybridWTR has become an essential part of my race preparation, not just for the Chicago Marathon, but for every race I compete in.

I use it before, during, and after training sessions, and I’ve noticed a real difference in how I recover. The tart cherry extract has been a particular highlight for me, as I’ve found it helpful for improving my sleep.

Beyond the performance and recovery benefits, it tastes great, making it something I genuinely enjoy incorporating into my daily routine.

Adrian Wildschutt sets an ambitious goal for his debut marathon with planning to break the South African National Record and sub 2:05. This would be well under the current South African Marathon National Record of 2:05.36.

Nadeel Wildschutt goes into his second marathon with a strong training block and his sights set on running sub 2:07.

The two South African Brothers grew up running together, continued their careers running side by side at Coastal Carolina University, and now are both on HOKA NAZ Elite running the alongside each other in a race for the first time in their professional careers.

Together, the Wildschutt brothers fly higher.

We want to give a big thanks to South African Olympian Adriaan Wildschutt for speaking with us today!

A former All-American at Coastal Carolina and Florida State, Wildschutt placed 10th in the 10,000 meters at the Paris Olympics. He joined us just days after taking 25th in the Chicago Marathon.

I will always bet on myself!! ❤️

Yesterday, I fell short of my goal of breaking the South African marathon record (2:05:36) in my debut, and that stings. I was still on pace at 35km, but from there, I really started to struggle and went backwards. The heat and humidity made for tough conditions, and in hindsight, perhaps I could have been more conservative early on. But that’s part of the learning process, and I’ll take a lot from this experience.

This is only the beginning of my marathon career, and I have no doubt I’ll be back stronger and better for it!

But this post isn’t about dwelling on the disappointment. It’s about showing my appreciation for everyone who continues to support me, regardless of the outcome. Your support means more than you know, and I’m incredibly grateful for every message, every word of encouragement, and everyone who continues to believe in me.
