What a journey it has been with this team, such an unforgettable weekend. 🏆

This year has been full of relentless work, I fought hard to get back out on the field and I couldn’t be happier with the result of a long recovery ❤️‍🩹

Let’s talk about the 2026 WER season. Fair warning—this one’s a little long.

Going into game one, I remember waking up without the excitement I normally feel on game day. Why? Because a teammate of mine had been denied the right to play simply for existing. Instead of feeling excited, I cried the entire drive to the match thinking about someone who deserved to be out there with us. As players, we fought the league and demanded that all players be allowed to play. We weren’t heard. When we signed with this league, the ban didn’t exist. It was announced after many players had already relocated and changed their lives to be here. That decision caused frustration, heartbreak, and unnecessary pain for everyone involved, but especially for the athletes who were stripped of the opportunity to play.
All I have to say is: LET THEM PLAY.

Now, let’s talk about what really happened to my lower back after our first franchise win against the Boston Banshees. I stayed quiet while I was actively playing, but now it’s time to share my experience. After the match, I felt great aside from a sore shoulder from the usual hits. We were asked to check in with medical, and I was sent to the athletic trainer for cupping on my shoulder only. As the session went on, everyone left the room, including the team doctor. Without explaining what was about to happen or asking for my consent, the trainer had me stand, put my hands behind my head, lean all the way back until I was nearly touching the ground, and then forcefully manipulated my back. I couldn’t breathe for about a minute. I immediately got chills, and by the second day I was vomiting from the pain. I contacted the team doctor and was evaluated. Because of negligent care and poor practice, I missed an entire month of rugby.

Rugby is supposed to be a place where players feel safe, protected, and respected. We deserve competent medical care and a league that values every athlete. I love this sport too much to stay silent anymore. The players deserve better. by @adriim_

Some of you may or may not have noticed my absence from WER’s last three games.

Unfortunately, after our historic first franchise win against Boston and just our second game of the season, I suffered a lower back injury that’s kept me out of training sessions and matches for the past month, which has taken its toll on me both physically and mentally.

The road back hasn’t been easy, but I know l’ll be back. I can’t wait to be on a roster again, step onto the pitch, and do what I love.
