@drveronicaivy explains what’s behind the backlash against trans athletes in the third episode of the @vicenews show Queer Sports, available now on YouTube. It was important for us to gather trans people, athletes and journalists, around a table to talk about the current atmosphere and the real world repercussions of all these bans. So we did that. #queersports #vicenews #transathlete #queerathlete #lgbtq by @adrs

I got to talk about why we made the show “Queer Sports” on VICE News Tonight. This segment also shows a snippet of an upcoming episode, which features a panel of trans athletes and journalists, including climber @catlikeacat, who addressed the mismatch between how trans feminine and trans masculine individuals are received in sports. You can watch the first episode of Queer Sports right now on @vicenews’ YouTube. #transathlete #trans #sports #athletes #climbing #climber #lgbtqathletes #queersports #queerathlete by @adrs

Cherry eating spoon. I’m pleased with the way the bowl turned out on this one. Definitely my best spoon crank and bowl yet. This is the last of the (frozen) fresh cherry I had laying around. I’ll be eating my oatmeal in the morning with this one! #spooncarving #eatingspoon #woodcarving by @adrs

My neighbor had to cut down a young oak tree recently. And he was kind enough to give me the wood. So I made him a cooking spoon. That’s the deal around here: if you bring me green (still fresh, wet) wood you get a spoon. Because that’s only fair. 🥄 #spooncarving #woodcarving #greenwood by @adrs

I carved my mom’s Mother’s Day gift this year. Thank you to the Japanese cherry tree that made this possible. by @adrs

Freshly finished. Lefty spatula made from Japanese cherry. I used wood from the same tree that I used to make a spoon two weeks ago.

Hand-carved cooking spoon. A neighbor trimmed his Japanese Cherry tree recently, and he let me grab a few logs. Hopefully, I can make a few more things from the remaining greenwood soon. #spooncarving #woodcarving by @adrs

I don’t think we need to be sad about Jane Goodall’s passing. This is a life well lived. She gave us so much. I’m grateful for what she learned in the field, the people she inspired, and for the ways in which she changed not just animal research, but also how we view humans within the animal kingdom. by @adrs

August marked two years since I got gender-affirming top surgery. I’m so happy and grateful for the medical care I received @nyulangone. I have absolutely no regrets. I feel more like myself than ever and I’m happier in my skin than ever.

As a side note, some guy at a gas station called me “my man” today and while I don’t identify as a “man,” it did make me giggle (internally. Obvi). by @adrs
