Fall in Utah = float tubes

I love moving water in the summer. Rivers and creeks and streams all day long.

But there is something magical about floating in stillwater surrounded by the changing of the seasons. I marvel at the colors and think about how if ~

CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT IN LIFE

~ why is it so hard to do aometimes?

But then I catch a fish and set aside the complexities of life and live in that moment.

New Zealand 🇳🇿

An amazing flight deal to New Zealand turned into the reason I fell head over heels in love with fly fishing.

I barely knew how to fish let alone have the confidence to believe I could land a legendary New Zealand trout.

This one day solidified my love for the sport, but more importantly it's a constant reminder that you'll never know unless you try.

And maybe that's what I love the most about fly fishing...it's always asking you to step outside your comfort zone. Sometimes a little and sometimes 7000 miles from home.

The craziest part of this day was there was two of us fishing! @tirade75 also caught incredible fish but he'll have to make his own reel to show those off.

@nzyoshi Thank you for a memory that I will never forget and think about often when I'm doubting myself in life.

And thank you Tim for capturing the good, the bad, and the ones that got away 😘

Scared to share...

I made this and forgot about it in my drafts. Not talking about my nerve condition has been really nice. Like REALLY nice.

But it's a part of my new normal. This condition is baffling and creates the one thing that bothers me the most...Unpredictability.

This summer has been full of incredible experiences and I've been grateful for everything my mind and body has allowed me to do.

Yesterday I had my first big nerve flare up in a long time. With the tools I've learned I was able to keep my nervous system from rocketing me past the point of no return.

A year ago I might have taken a trip to the ER. But the work I've put in, teaching my brain and body how to work together, has paid off.

Though I'll still need time to recover from the flare up, which means canceling plans and having fomo, I want to acknowledge how far I've come.

Healing isn't linear. Healing is slow. Healing is messy. But healing can happen.

When I first started fishing, I used to wonder why the guides would be holding the fish in the pictures.

Moments like this when you accidentally lose control of the fish is why sometimes it's better FOR THE FISH to have a professional hold them.

As you can see @kelly.mcfly was a one handed pro in handling my fish. ✋🏼
