Big promotion today! 🪵💼 Remmi has officially accepted the position of Lead Branch Manager here at the @adventurevanexpo in Hood River.

The pay is exclusively in sticks and belly rubs, but honestly, the benefits package is top-tier. Currently, the manager is taking a well-deserved break in the grass while we wait for lunch.

The highlight of the shift so far? A high-level meeting with another English Lab who is also named Remmi. 🤯 Proof that great minds (and great dogs) think alike! 🐾

Adventure Van Expo 2026

The Settling In

We just wrapped up two nights at the Hood River fairgrounds for the Adventure Van Expo, and it was a total blast. We splurged on 30-amp service because we clearly have no self-control, though the weather was so perfect we definitely could have skipped it.

The Real Luxury

The real MVP of this trip? Having actual running water and real bathrooms. Can we talk about how nice it is to not have to touch the cassette toilet for 48 hours? Absolute luxury.

On the Expo Floor

We saw some incredible builds, met some awesome vendors and other festival goers, and I’m already dreaming up ten new projects for the EKKO (sorry not sorry).

Dog Highlights: Best of all, Remmi made a new best friend, a dog named Lucy, so she’s officially exhausted and living her best life.

Campfire Reflections

It’s always a good time when you can combine inspiration for the rig with time spent with the best crew. Hood River was the perfect spot to kick off these next few weeks of adventure.

A little mental health reset at Devil's Lake State Recreation Area Campground. The weather was a bit gloomy, but the company was perfect. Finally got to try out the RTT with Remmi dog, and let me tell you, it was the best night's sleep we’ve had in a while.

P.S. To the fellow gearheads out there—my new Jackery solar panels were putting in work even on this gray day! The 200W panels were pulling about 24-28 watts with all the clouds, which I've learned is a solid performance when you're not getting direct sun. Pretty impressed!

Just when you think you’ve seen everything on the backroads... 🦈💨

It’s not every day you’re cruising down a quiet country road and end up tailgating an apex predator! I guess even Great Whites get tired of swimming and decide to hitch a ride on a flatbed trailer.

Definitely a first for me. Life is an adventure—you truly never know what’s going to be riding ahead of you!

I am officially convinced I have been cursed by a spiteful wizard. ✨🧙‍♂️ Every single time I order a part, the universe looks at me and says, "Cute choice, but absolutely not."

Latest victim: This skid plate. Website status: "Perfect fit." Reality status: Not even close.
The silver lining? My cardboard-folding skills are elite, and the local UPS guy and I are basically best friends now. Call me the Master of Returns. 💅📦

Commitment issues are real, so until I can finally pick a bumper for the EKKO, we went with a @roughcountry skid plate instead. 🤷‍♂️ Safety first, aesthetics later.

Remmi has taken her role as Head Site Supervisor very seriously, though her inspection methods mostly involve napping in the shade. 🐾

Word on the street is Benny comes home from the hospital in the next couple of days, so I’ll officially have an assistant to go with my supervisor. Wish me luck. 😅

Three days, a brief parts detour, and a whole lot of patience later... Phase 1 of the ditch light saga is officially complete! 🛠️✨

Rugged Radios sent over the correct brackets, and they fit like a glove. The Baja Designs Squadron Sports LED Driving Combo lights are officially mounted and looking sharp on the EKKO.

Now comes the "fun" part: wiring these bad boys to the switch in the cab. 🫠

I know, I know—it shouldn’t sound that hard. But I’ve never owned a vehicle where the engine battery is hanging out inside the cab instead of under the hood! 🧭

So, calling all Sprinter experts and van-life DIYers: anyone have some wisdom (or a map) to point me in the right direction for routing this through the firewall to the battery box? Drop your tips, tricks, or words of encouragement below! 👇

Just when you think you’re done modding your rig… you go full EKKO mode again. 🛠️🚐

Shoutout to the Transit EKKO community for dropping the ultimate Norcold fridge/freezer hack—a custom 3D-printable STL file for a perfect-fit shelf riser!

Once I realized both Sprekko and Trekko rock the exact same fridge model, I immediately put on my project manager hat and deployed the ultimate corporate currency: bribing my Godson Chase with a lunch of his choice. 🍕

The trade agreement? One premium meal for two custom-printed, fully functional shelves. Safe to say Chase absolutely crushed it! (Swipe to see that perfect fit ➡️). No more stacking groceries like a game of Jenga—these are going to make organizing the freezer a total breeze. 🧊👏

Thanks again, Chase! Best lunch investment I've made all year.

Well, let me tell you how my day went...

It all started last weekend at Overland Expo. I was riding high, feeling accomplished, and picked up some slick new ditch light brackets for the EKKO. "This is gonna look great," I thought. "Quick weekend project," I thought.

Oh, how naive. That’s when it all began…

Plot Twist numer one: I open the packages. One of them completely lacks the proper nuts to attach the bracket. Classic. But wait, there’s more! Rugged Radios actually clutched up and sent over the missing hardware. Easy fix, right? You’d think that’s where the story ends, we all live happily ever after, and the Sprinter looks badass.

WRONG. ❌

Today, I went to install them. Because I am a trusting, optimistic soul, I didn't double-check the parts ahead of time. I get to work, only to realize... only one of the brackets is actually for my vehicle.

Cue another call to Rugged Radios, followed by an entire photoshoot of about six different pictures proving that, yes, these are two completely different shapes. After a little detective work on both our ends, turns out I was gifted a matching set of... one bracket for a 2019+ Sprinter, and one bracket for a 2018 or older. Balance! ⚖️

So, current status: I have exactly one bracket successfully attached. The other proper bracket is scheduled to arrive this Thursday.

We will finish the install on Thursday... if the overland gods allow it. 🛠️✨

🐾 Well, I said something big was coming... and here he is! 🐾

Welcome Benelli (aka Benny) to the Adventure Dogwagon crew! 🚙💨

He’s just under 8 weeks old and already weighing in at a very healthy 14 lbs 5 oz of pure, chocolatey mischief. 🍫

Remmi has already officially activated her "Big Dog Training Powers" 🦸‍♀️ and gently corrected Mr. Benny on the exact hierarchy of this crew. (Spoiler alert: He is at the bottom of the totem pole for now, no matter how cute he is).

Better pictures are coming soon as soon as I can get him to sit still in the right light! 📸😂

🎒 Big news: Benny is already starting his gear collection and rocking his very first @patch_built patch!

Nothing beats sitting outside enjoying the weather, right up until the mailman rolls up like Santa Claus to drop off some fresh mailday goodness. 📦🔥
