Hi! We wanted to re-introduce ourselves since there’s so many new faces around here!

We’re Destiny and Brandon☺️
(And Leona🐾)

We moved into this converted 2014 Ram ProMaster a few months ago and we’re currently on a road trip around the US🚐

We made this account in 2021 after absolutely FALLING in love with traveling! Car camping in Utah changed our perspectives on life and now we spend every day inspiring others to see the world! We show the coolest places to see, the best places to eat, and funnest things to do in every state! We love the outdoors and spend most of our time hiking🥾

Some facts about us:
•I’m (Destiny) is 24 and Brandon is 26!
•We’re high school sweethearts and got married in 2020
•We’re from Indiana🌽
•We love listening to Noah Kahan, Caamp, The Lumineers, and Zach Bryan
•We found Leona wandering the Indiana country side in 2015 and she’s been our adventure dog ever since!🐾
•Green is our favorite color🌲

Leona almost didn’t make it the last time she was sick with pancreatitis a few years ago so this was especially scary.

But we played it safe and after spending 48 hours at the emergency hospital (and more money than I ever thought we’d spend this month😅), she came back home feeling so much better! We can tell she missed us and the van for sure!🥹

Thanks to everyone who reached out and sent good vibes her way! We appreciate you so much!🫶🏼

We haven’t paid rent in 3 years, but that doesn’t stop us from racking up the monthly expenses apparently😅

Atleast this is how much some people spend on rent alone so I feel a little better✨

The eating out and coffee costs last month really surprised us but we did do a lot of driving and trying new local food so I’m going to let that one go (for now😅)

We hope this helps you understand what you might be getting yourself into if you decide to follow your dream of living in a van and traveling!

This is how we sustain van life financially! But it goes so much deeper than money. This is about our quality of life and happiness too!

Of course there are other ways (maybe even some ways that are a little less “unstable”) but this is what works for us! We don’t rely on anyone else financially and we make money when we need too. Personally, I would consider that stable but it’s definitely not consistent so that’s where it gets a little stressful sometimes.

The best thing about only working when you need money is you’re way more grateful and excited when it comes time to work 😂 than if you HAVE to clock in every single day. And we have gained a lot of trust in ourselves that we’ll figure it out, and we always do!☺️ (trust me, it took a lot of mental work to get here)

We want to touch on how we sustain traveling so long mentally and relationship wise too (because living in a small space with your significant other is challenging sometimes😅)

Answering every question in the comments in hopes to help someone gain the confidence they need or just to understand van life a little more🚐✨

This is just one of the MANY lessons van life has taught us🚐✨

Living in a van has made us incredibly grateful for the little things. Things that most people don’t think twice about in their daily lives.

Things like:

•access to a hot shower 24/7- we have to basically plan our showers in order to get a hot one so we take dips in lakes and rivers to feel clean in-between!

•Knowing where you’re sleeping every night- we really do have to find somewhere legal to sleep almost every night before we can go to sleep😅 but we wouldn’t wake up to beautiful places every day if we didn’t have to

•having a whole bathroom/vanity area to get ready in- we use our tiny side view mirror to do hair or makeup and it feels a little cramped sometimes. But we spend a lot less time worrying about how our outfits look or how our bodies look and just assume we look great because there’s no mirror telling us different.

•having an oven baked meal- we’re missing casseroles and pizza tbh😅 but it is nice to venture out and try a local shop that has the food we’re missing!

•having unlimited A/C- your A/C probably runs almost all day in your apartment or house and you don’t even realize how nice it is to have until it breaks and you really need it. Our vans electrical system can’t run our A/C for very long but at least we have SOME and we’re super grateful on the hot days. We try to travel with the weather to prevent needing it but that doesn’t always work out 😅 so we keep a breeze flowing through the van most of the time through cracked or open doors and we love it!

Despite these little struggles, we’re so happy we chose this life! There’s always going to be inconveniences or things you wished you had no matter how you live. Learn to love every part of it anyway!

We can’t believe we were on the road for 2 years before finding out about Timbrem’s suspension enhancement system and WHY did no one tell us how helpful it is?!

It’s officially been one year since we switched out our factory bump stops (that honestly did nothing for us on these crazy roads) to the aeon springs that absorb shock with every bump and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to upgrade.

Living on the road comes with a lot of challenges but I don’t see why getting to cool campsites in the middle of nowhere has to be one??

and with our upgrade from @timbren_industries, it’s not any more😌

We seriously thought we’d only travel for 6 months and then go back to “normal” life.

Well…turns out “normal” life doesn’t seem too fun anymore. Especially when our van has felt more like a home than anywhere else🥹

And now we can’t see us stopping ANY time soon🚐✨

The realistic part of van life you don’t see🚐👇🏼

Sometimes we have to travel to MULTIPLE cities to finish our chore days because one place may have a shower but it doesn’t have laundry and one place might have laundry but it doesn’t have a place to fill up our water tank and so on...

We already do A LOT of driving🙃 and we are definitely feeling the decision fatigue of always trying to figure out where we’re going to do each chore.

We challenged ourselves to do as many chore’s as possible in one place for our sanity and it worked out! @lovestravelstops reminded us again today why they’re our favorite place to stop on the road!🤭⛽️🚐

The reality of van life btw😅

and I really don’t know how we stayed positive the whole time (can’t stop laughing at the ending😂)

We pulled into a dispersed camping site in the morning, planning to stay there the whole night. It started POURING rain and we realized the small incline we had to go up to leave was getting muddier by the second.
The weather forecast showed rain all night so instead of waiting for the rain to trap us in, we decided to leave😅

We spent TWO HOURS alternating our traction boards (an essential we’ll never forget again lol) between the two front tires and we literally INCHED our way up. We were about 60 feet from the road when we started and probably moved 3-6 feet everytime we tried to go up the hill. And the tires just kept spinning.

But WE MADE ITTT✨

Every challenge van life has thrown at us is so new and not expected but it works out everytime🚐

We had just spent $50k and 8 hours of our life buying this van and hadn’t eaten all day😅

Between the shock of ACTUALLY buying the converted van we were going to travel the country in (no going back on our big dreams now!) and the hunger (seriously felt like my glucose was 7), it was hard to show emotion even though this was such an EXCITING step towards our goal of moving into a van and traveling the country together! It made all the hard work we had put in up to this point feel like it was really worth something🥹

Still can’t believe we booked a one way flight to CO for a van we didn’t even know if we’d buy or not😅 but everything worked out! (most spontaneous thing we’ve ever done)

Shout out to @subway for being our first meal in our new home😅
